Little wonder only rock bottom Norwich are the only side to have scored less.
Obviously for the solidity, the other side of the equation is the lack of creativity. PEH and Skipp are combining pretty well, Skipp has been excellent most of the season to be fair, as he was yesterday but Conte will need to line up different next match as Skippy picked up his 5th booking of the season yesterday. The team is crying out for Ndombele.
Should have won it when Lo Celso hit the post in injury time. Had we won, Everton wouldnt have any complaints.
Ben Davies narrowly shot wide with Pickford beaten. Sonny through 1 on 1 and shot straight at Pickford (to be pulled back for offside) and Lo Celso's effort.
Hmm, they put us under a bit of pressure for 10 mins but hardly all over us. They played in front of the back 3, the only time they got in behind was the penalty shout which was rightly overturned. Their two shots on target came in the first half. Lloris didnt have to make a diving save all game from memory.
No doubting it was a poor game. Only 6 corners too in the 90 mins, which is very unusual for PL game.1 -

Sadly, more than ever, it is possible to be relatively successful in football by building an average team and denying the opposition from scoring. Spurs haven't had a shot on target for two consecutive PL games now but aren't unique for not being able to score. After 11 games, here are the ones who have done well despite their lack of goals (F-A)
5th Arsenal 13-13
7th Brighton 12-12
8th Wolves 11-12
9th Spurs 9-16
Arsenal are two points off a Champions League place and can barely muster a goal a game. The prizes for being successful are not commensurate with setting up a side to attack. The rewards for not conceding are there for all to see and this pre occupation with two holding midfielders, conceding possession and hitting teams on the counter is very much a symptom of modern day football caused by fear of losing games and managers not wanting to be out of work as a result of that.
The irony of all of that is that Norwich hadn't won a game and scored all season just three goals until Saturday when they almost doubled that tally and ending up winning as a result. And their manager, Farke, getting the sack.

Eight of West Ham's starting XI on Sunday are ever present in the PL. That result against Liverpool was in spite of playing away in Europe on Thursday. Nine players played some part in both games and that rather blows out of the water the PL Managers who moan about having to play so close to the weekend.
Find your best team, play your best team and rest players when appropriate.3 -

PS. Please dont let West Ham stay up there, they look solid but i dont think i could handle it with their fans.1 -

Look at the responses! Imagine how they'd feel when they find out Leko, Dj and CBT have been given the same treatment. It's an outrage1 -
I'd be a little surprised if it worked with Sancho.
After all I've always had the impression that Southgate hasnt utilised him more for England due to his lack of defending... Apart from DJ's poor showing against Cheltenham, all three do well to track back, for the most part.

How can you buy one of the most promising young attacking players (29 goals and 30 assists in the last 2 league seasons) in Europe for 75m and then decide you want to play him as a wing back when he's probably never defended in his life.4

Charlton's nemesis from last season when he was playing for Rochdale, Kwadwo Baah got injured today in training at Watford and is in hospital having an operation on his ankle.
He was due to make his debut for Watford this month as he had impressed for the U23 and also impressed for Germany u18 last month. Footballers have so many ups and downs, that you have to savour the sweet moments.

Safe to say they could be getting their cheque book out come January0 -
They need a striker, and with his lack of game time plus a return to London would it be stupid to think they could go and get Raheem Sterling?1

Newcastle maybe because of the silly wages they'd be able to offer but no one else outside the traditional clubs.0 -

Klopp doesn't appear to be leaving Liverpool for a while yet, and he wouldn't get a top 6 job, so Villa who are a big club with owners who are clearly prepared to spend money are in that next bracket of clubs.
Very good news for Celtic too.0 -

This is pathetic from the PL.

The Premier League has blocked its clubs wearing their away kits at home on Boxing Day to raise awareness around homelessness.
Homeless charity Shelter hoped to get the support of clubs for the #NoHomeKit initiative.
However, while the clubs were supportive of the idea, the Premier League says it would break its rules around kits.
The rules demand home teams wear home kits as their first priority.
The Premier League has noted clubs are allowed to change their sponsor for one game per season and replace it with a charitable message.
"The Premier League receives a large number of requests from charities every season, however we aren't able to support all centrally," the organisation said.
"Clubs are entitled to support charitable causes, and we encourage clubs to do so, provided it is in compliance with Premier League rules."
Shelter feels the sight of clubs and fans wearing a different kit at a home game would be a powerful message to help raise awareness of homelessness.

So Man City v Leicester and potentially West Ham v Southampton / Wolves v Watford will be a challenge to watch then wont they as they've got kit clashes of some kind!!0 -

Liverpool have confirmed sporting director Michael Edwards will leave at the end of the season.
Feels quite significant. Liverpool were desperate to extend his deal.
