My sister and brother-in-law lived in Waddington just about 3 miles from the ground.
I have no idea how I got there for the game, maybe Mum and Dad drove up with me for a weekend stay with them. I would have gone to the game with my brother-in-law who had started supporting The Imps when they moved there a few years earlier.
The 1985 game I would have driven up myself and stayed a day or two with them.1 -

May I suggest heading for Brayford Wharf Waterfront, it’s a stones throw from the station with plenty of restaurants and drinking establishments and not far to walk to Sincil Bank.
If you have time on your side the most beautiful and interesting part of the City is up at the Bailgate area around the cathedral/castle quarter……there are regular buses too from the bus station (opposite the railway station), which take you up there as the attractive walk up Steep Hill (with it’s cobblestone streets and quaint picturesque shops, art galleries and oldie world ale houses), is not for the faint hearted, so beware of that.
Steep Hill isn’t called Steep Hill for nothing!1 -
