“Probably the best song writer on Charlton Life…”

There seems to be a lot of musicians on here but no-one sharing their music, thought we could have a place for it.

I’ll leave this piece of wisdom here: what’s the difference between a musician and an 18” pizza?
The pizza can feed a family!

I mean maybe Glenn Tilbrook has an account, which would mean a very short thread :D
    Wouldn’t that be a thing!
  • @Leroy Ambrose that makes me think of the question what is music?
is John Cage’s 4’ 33” music? It’s filed under music and is a physical track that can be bought and downloaded
  • Good stuff guys, like them both.

Is this what a jazz home studio looks like?

I can bash out a heavy riff on a guitar but respect to anyone who writes their own music, seems borderline impossible to my simple mind

I wrote this when I was 18, initially as an A Level composition, which I then modified slightly but haven't recorded since.

This is a choral (SSAATTBB) setting of Emily Dickinson's Parting, utilising more modern harmonic techniques.

I also did some more indie stuff back in the day as well but only one track survives! Will dig it out later if anyone's vaguely interested.

Interesting concept, why did you chose a choral arrangement for it?

Partly out of necessity - I had to submit a choral and instrumental piece (which was to nobody's surprise a jazz ballad) as coursework! - and also because I felt a modern setting of a nineteenth-century poem was the most appropriate way to try and express Dickinson's unconventionalities, sort of. Also, the ethereal nature of the text leant itself to something Whitacre-ish, I suppose (though I'd never claim to have his compositional elan).
  • Something more conventional. Dunno why Waves became the title, but it did. Very summery tune, too.
