Ah yes. The wonderful Spanish tradition of taking something essentially bad for you, and then wrapping it in something else and deep frying it. And people think the Scots invented that... 😏1

Just caught Cav’s win in Turkey. Wonderful. I so hope he can get some stages in the major tours.1

As a break from ESL and COVID, a bit of bike porn. While I wasn’t watching, my other half decided she wanted a new bike - a Parlee Z Zero7

Very nice! A bit out of my price range atm haha but lovely all the same.
Plus 1 for orange bar tape though, I recently rewrapped my Triban with orange. My first time doing tape so not the neatest job, but acceptable for now.
And yes, that is my bedroom/office. Living that WFH life.5 -
Just had an Asgard double bike shed fitted in my front yard.
No more having to wheel bikes through the house to lock them up in the back garden! Brilliant.1 -

I’m looking to get a new bike. Budget c.2-3k. From reading online I should be able to get decent disc brakes and Ultegra group set for this. Any recommendations?Quite like the look of Ribble Endurance SL and Specialized Roubaix.0

Have a look at the Dolan site. They have a pretty awesome looking Di2 equiped bike for £2700 at the moment. I absolutely love electronic shifting and would never go back to mechanical on my "proper" bike now. Dolan offer an excellent builder tool as well which allows you to size various compenents and add in upgraded wheels etc if you wish. Add £500 to your budget and you could get one of these with a Mavic full carbon wheelset and Di2.

Then let me know if you want a training plan 😏I got Vectors as a present - easy to install. Pairing was a little confusing because they don’t warn you that it will probably download a firmware update., which made it look like it had failed. Really haven’t invested much time in them yet. I’m just impressed my power is a 52/48 split.1 -

Wouldn't touch new tech from Garmin with a bargepole until its on v2 at least (and probably v3)
If you want to stay MTB, I'd go with a power2max or sram Eagle spider0 -

Shame you'll not use the Assioma's as they're what I have and I'm impressed with them - especially for the price.
If you're MTB'ing why not crank based? A hell of a lot cheaper, and still very accurate. I'd always be worried downhill on an MTB getting a rock strike: Probably not so likely on the N.Downs.
DC Rainmaker seems to say the Garmin Race's are very good. But like Leroy says the Garmin Vector's did have loads of problems. DC Rainmaker seems to be saying that Garmin's solutions to the Vector 2/3 problems, are incorporated into the Race with better battery life. But his caveat was that customer's will find out on reliability on road.
My brother's Vector 2s were wildly innacurate, and the solutions their support team gave were ludicrous. I've stopped using Garmin for the moment on account of useless support for GPSs, and having to find work arounds myself. DC Rainmaker says Vector 3s are his power meter pedals of choice, but he admits he didn't have the battery cap issues.

How difficult is it to do the crank stuff? I think that's the main thing for me to be honest.
Don't really want to have it sitting in a bike shop for a week, or 4 weeks as I found at one point during covid0
