India are coming here this summer. I hope we prepare the pitches that maximise our bowlers strengths. Also get the most biased video replay umpires in. Should be a good watch.
If we lose this series 3-1. There are five tests, so weather permitting we can beat them overall by a couple.0 -
Chasing 132 to win, my eldest son told me that a Sri Lankan fielder dropped an absolute sitter which would have made the Windies 106-7 off 7.2 overs!!!MrOneLung said:Slightly off topic but just seen this on BBC
Kieron Pollard struck six sixes in one over off Akila Dananjaya, who had earlier taken a hat-trick, in West Indies' extraordinary four-wicket Twenty20 defeat of Sri Lanka.
Dananajaya's figures over by over:
1-0-8-0
2-0-17-3
3-0-53-3
4-0-62-30 -
Curran was meant to have been back in India and available for the the 4th Test, but the logistics proved too difficult so he's just on the white ball squad flight over to IndiaAddick Addict said:
Spot on. I forgot about that one - ironically because he'd been non stop in bubbles without playing!!! Curran? He's gone home too? In which case we should have had Archer/Broad/ Wood or anyone else available. Bess improves the tail anyway at 8.Johnnysummers5 said:I thought Woakes had gone home.0 -
36-1
Leach getting a bit of turn early on , found the edge in his first over and beat the bat0 -
Stokes looks in one of those moods this morning. Let's hope he can make it count with wickets.1

Pujara out lbw next Leach over
pad then bat reasonably Clearly
pujara Reviews and it’s hitting the middle of middle

Terrible waste of a review from Pujara0

15 dots
6 singles
0 two’s
0 threes
6 fours
9 sixes
too hot to run obviously4 -
Wake up to find that after England went for a 2 seamer attack, our seamers have taken 4 of the 5 wickets3
-
Lacklustre appeal....0

Kohli's stare at the wicket following his dismissal says as much as anything. Bizarre decision to do so especially as we don't have the world class spinners to compensate for the lack of pace in the side. Effectively we are playing with a three man bowling attack, killerandflash said:Wake up to find that after England went for a 2 seamer attack, our seamers have taken 4 of the 5 wickets
The most positive thing of all is that we have our all rounder back - he's been shielding as a bowler in the last few years more than I have during Covid!1 -
139/5 India standard annoying partnership from Ashwin and Pant
india 1.3 on betfair
runs so preciousAny lead over 30 and I think we’re done any lead of over 30 for us and I’ll fancy us ...
although hopefully India won’t be getting the 300+ I thought they would1 -
Well bowled Leachy. Mystery that Ashwin didn't review it. He's their equivalent of Bairstow!0

England definitely hampered by neither Curran nor Woakes being available, or Moeen as an off spinner you can rely on!0
-
They still had Stones or Wood but I get the point regarding the bad timing of sending all of them home. But then the IPL is as much the driver on that for at least one of them.killerandflash said:England definitely hampered by neither Curran nor Woakes being available, or Moeen as an off spinner you can rely on!0 -
Can't help thinking that Pant will be releasing the handbrake soon enough0
-
Almost the opposite to the last test, where we picked one specialist spinner and spinners got nearly all our wickets!killerandflash said:Wake up to find that after England went for a 2 seamer attack, our seamers have taken 4 of the 5 wickets0 -
Curran or Woakes could have provided a number 7 batting option though, whereas Stones and Wood are more tailendersAddick Addict said:

I don't get why that wasn't out? apart from the fact the on field umpire said it wasn't?

Theirs was bad enough - ours in that session was 11.4. That's more than 5 minutes average to bowl an over and it's not as if the spinners haven't been on!!!Andyessgee90 said:This over rate is appalling.0 -

I thought if it's 'in line' and hitting the stumps then it's out whether the umpire called it or not?Addick Addict said:

Depends how close to missing it was, there's a bit of margin of error, so if only just clipping, there's not enough to overturn the umpire's call, if it's hitting a 3rd of the way down the stump etc, then there is.suzisausage said:
