Agreed. If they’re planning to buy a football club, surely they realise they’ll be publicity associated with that.Dazzler21 said:

The administrators are asking for £4m to pay the financial commitment which they owe to HMRC for income tax and VAT.msomerton said:but the administrators what their pound of flesh and so are asking a price for the club that is asking to much for buyers in the North West with so many other clubs around,
If they don't get a sale of club to match that - then HMRC are in a position to wind up Wigan, liquidated.

Its going to hard to get the 4 mil in this economic climate just to pay off the creditors and assume running a loss for the foreseeable future.0

I wonder if a certain Messrs Southall, Bassinni & Farnell are involved ?stoneroses19 said:

Southall would fail the ODT because he still has an interest in us 🙈🙈golfaddick said:

Still dont understand how a wage cap helps lower league clubs. Parachute payments from the Premier League were put into place because of this type of situation. Dropping from one level to another when paying big salaries is just not viable unless there is some sort of safety net.0

Wage caps are bollocks, they are counter productive, encourage creative accounting as well as anything else.golfaddick said:Still dont understand how a wage cap helps lower league clubs. Rugby league, which is almost a closed sport has dozens of players wives, sisters mothers and associated others working in "hospitality" on £100s an hour to get round it.
Why should Sunderland have the same wage bill as Accrington when they possibly get 10x, at least, the revenue??6 -
Preferred buyer from Spain has been found

Great news that Wigan have been bought by a Spanish outfit clearing all debts to creditors (which would presumably include a number of local businesses). Hope it works out for them.4
-
You would hope that the administrators wouldn't choose a buyer unless they were sure they'd easily pass all the EFL tests0
-
Pity they won't be deducted 15 points

Perhaps it's Jiminez from his Spanish golf course, "...... The preferred bidder who has experience in football has made it plain that they do not wish for their details to be made public ".ForeverAddickted said:Preferred buyer from Spain has been found

They've supposedly put up the money to pay the non-footballing creditors in advance, so must be bullshit. Very poor taste!ForeverAddickted said:1 -
