Wigan quoted on BBC News - "our major objective is to complete all our remaining fixtures for this season"0

Unless this has a massive de-stabilising effect and they let players go they will see themselves clear of relegation this season0

What a crazy situation football is in at the moment
Imagine being a Wigan fan at the moment, seeing your team in incredible form on the pitch, only for this to happen.1 -
Not going to pretend I’m not happy about our survival hopes being massively boosted should the deduction kick in now.But firstly would like to congratulate the EFL on letting yet another dodgy owner in and within four weeks bringing down a good club.
And secondly it could easily be us some time in the future.
Very bitter sweet feel to it this.25 -

And I'd guess if the players aren't getting paid, they won't want to play.
Is it a case of if they can't field a team against us, we'd get the 3pts due to their default?

Feel really bad for the Wigan supporters, hopefully the club can get through this.7

Assuming it's an automatic 12 point deduction, it's good news in that it will put another side below us.
Bad news in that we have to play them in the penultimate game and now they probably won't be safe.

I am quite happy for us to benefit from clubs losing points due to financial irregularities which enabled said club to benefit but less sanguine about benefiting from a team going into administration.
Might explain why they are playing out of their skin though.2 -
It's 12 points, immediately.
Unless you are already relegated (or promoted even with a 12 point deduction which is less likely) that's due to Uncle Ken putting Leeds into admin at half time on the last day of the season when they were already relegated.0 - Sponsored links:

It's a 12 point deduction, not 10. From what I can make out from this - https://www.efl.com/-more/governance/efl-rules--regulations/section-3---the-league/ - it's automatic when they enter administration, not something that you can appeal (unless the administration is caused by another club defaulting on a payment which consequently forces Club A into administration). The only grey area is that when a points deduction is applied (this season or next season) revolves around whether administrating occurs before or after the 4th Thursday in March, which is obviously based on a season running to May, not July. There's also mention of force majeur. Working at the moment so only skim read it.
Good news for us, but another club let down by the EFL. How can you go into administrating 4 weeks after being taken over?!6 -

99% certain they won't get punished this season.2 -
I wonder if the authorities might be a bit more lenient with the points deduction give the current economic climate?0

Football is fucking broken16

Begbies Traynor are specialists in Administration. Feel sorry for Wigan fans/Paul Cook and who've done a very creditable job at looking like they were staying up.
On the other side they're part of the bonkers finances of the champ. They've paid way over affordable wages for many a year. Hopefully L1 L2 sort out wage 2 turnover ratios. No chance in the Champ though.0 -

If as the administrator says the aim is to complete their fixtures, does that mean if they fail to do so we get the 3 points? They also have to play Hull and Barnsley.0
-
I wouldnt try and second guess the EFL they're a law unto themselves, making it up as they go along 😏.13
-
6 points this season and 6 next? Or is that punishing them twice0
-
Four weeks after being taken over as well...
fit and proper test my arse. Whole system needs overhauling.9
