Remember this one?
Local lower or non-league football team reach 3rd round of the FA Cup. They are led to the local tailors to get suited and booted.
The manager, who I think is played by Bill Dean(Harry Cross from Brookside) says something like..."This lot have reached the 3rd round of the cup"
" I know" says the sales assistant, "the whole town's talking about it"
Then someone pokes their head round the door of the shop...." Hey boss! We've drawn Arsenal away!"
"Put'em back" says the manager to his disappointed players as they were just trying on their new clobber.
Anyone remember it? Or what it was actually advertising! I can't.

I liked the WKD adverts, especially the karate expert when his student pulled his finger and he made a noise of a fart.0

sorry, first football advert i remember was the accrington stanley / milk one, which i presume this was before.0
-
Yes I reckon this was 74/75. There must be some old gits on here who remember.....0

I remember that suit one. Was it for Hamlet cigars? Sure there was a Hamlet one with players in a wall facing a free kick as well.
And less of the old git ;-)0 -
i was gonna say the hamlet one henry doood, where the ball gets him clean in the jacobs whilst in the wall! classic0

The Carling Black Label ad with the Dambusters theme was a classic, the German pretending to be a goalkeeper and saving the bouncing bombs!0
-
Believe it or not I think it was for Yellow Pages or something similar(I could be wrong) and less of the Old Git - You cheeky young whippersnapper you!0

Seeing that we are on the lines of Yellow Pages, wasn't there one involving an old man in search of a book by J.R. Hartley (i believe that was his name also). On recieving the book from his wife, he pisses himself with exitement and the camera pans up to him smiling contently.2

I liked the advert from the sixties where two teams of beer bottles are seemingly boring the pants off of the crowd and someone shouts out 'Mackeson' and they all perk up and start to perform......needless to say that some bright spark at the Valley tested it out during another dour encounter, don't think it worked though!!0

Anyone remember the 'follow the bear' ads? Some sort of beer, Hoffmeisten or something?0

From memory I think the book 'Fly fishing' was fictional but subsequently someone published a book with that name on the back of the popularity of the advert.1 -
