I have a bizarre love for Naby that I can’t explain. Ok, not as much as Leuth, but he’s a favourite player of mine and I love to see him do well for us, more than anyone else at the club. Hope he stays15

I know it’s old fashioned thinking, but I primarily watch football to be entertained. Not to read balance sheets or contracts or discuss planning applications. It’s supposed to be fun and a bit of escapism from the drudgery of real life.Ideally it includes winning regularly but, if it can’t do that, for the love of god let it be entertaining. Naby entertains. Sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a bad way, but theres rarely a dull moment when he’s around. Plus he’s a good lad and I don’t think he can really be accused of hiding or not giving it his best effort.I like Naby for those reasons. Will he be remembered as one of the greats, obviously not, but, he will be remembered, and you can’t say that about an awful lot of the turgid dross we’ve had to watch in between Powell and Bowyer. And he’s scored vs Palace. I hope he’s still here next season on a sensible contract and with better players around him who help cover some of his weaknesses and highlight some of his strengths. If not I hope he has a good career elsewhere.13

Simple errors are replicated by higher profile players in the premier every week by defenders. I don't mean when they are skilled up but just basic errors and lack of concentration.
Naby has made mistakes in the Championship that have resulted in goals: so have Pearce, Lockyer, Solly, Purrington etc
The Irony is Naby would get a Championship move if he always used his strength and cut out the silly error because he is the go to defender to try the long passes that have led to goals. Plus his other assists and goals. Until we bring defenders into the club of a higher quality, ( I support who ever is picked) he is in on merit.
It maybe time for Naby to move on when his contract expires because not sure he will get 6 to 7k a week next time on a 5 year ! Igor was only on a tad more than Sarr.1 -
If Exiled says Naby scored v Palace, then I'm confident he did.
What goal was this, I have no recollection at all ?0 -

The problem in the last game was that the Baggies were pressing up against our dangerous game of playing out from the back.
Teams playing us only have to look at videos to see that Dillon's preferred option is to kick the ball to Naby. The pass is often behind him.
We need to mix things up.1 -

And if he can atone for his errors at The Toolbox ....... by scoring the winner against the Spanners at The Valley - he will go down as an all time Charlton legend.

Entertaining night, didn't see much of the football, gave up on that when I saw our line up :-(
Twas the game when the toilets were wrecked, someone on here got the blame and the police brought out their wall.

Had to take a massive detour that night back to my car, would have taken even longer if a sergeant hadn't assessed me as low risk and let me take a bit of a short cut 😎.Covered End said:

Although over the years I've seen the best teams mix things up ....... and become more difficult to play against, because opponents don't know what to expect.Covered End said:

We need to mix things up.
We are a bit slow and predictable always playing from the back and opponents often close us down.
And that's when we're at our most vulnerable - we've conceded too many goals from that.
Opponents know this beforehand.

Naby came to the club at the worst time, struggled to adjust to the new environment, didn’t have many friends or family close, had awful manager after awful manager. But since he came back and we have had a little bit of stability and a connection, he’s improved untold amount.
The thing with Naby is he has this kind of stigma, a label that is hard to shake off because of when he first joined the club. But he is actually one of our best defenders, often reads the game well enough and can have excellent distribution from defence. As much as Pearce is our captain, Sarr is the better player.
Unfortunately in football, things happen like if Sarr had made the mistake Lockyer did on Saturday to give away the first goal, this place would’ve been calling for his head. Instead he made a goal saving last ditch tackle, and correct me if I am wrong, but I haven’t seen too much made of it.
I really like Naby, and I hope that we can come to an agreement on wages that allows him to stay. There is a lot more to come from him, he needs good players around him, a bit of confidence, and a manager who trusts and coaches him. Like all players really. But he is more than capable in this division and would be sad to see him go at the end of the season.19 -

I remember it well, young Karlan Aherne-Grant came on as sub and started playing well down the left, we had already been totally out classed by a Palace second string team, Naby scored with a header and we lost 4-1.Covered End said:If Exiled says Naby scored v Palace, then I'm confident he did.

The returning Charlton fans who showed up for "aggro", main interest was to chant " Pardew your a CuxT" I know that's no slander was involved but did proved we have zero class and throw bottles towards the palace fans which just showered the Charlton fans towards the front including a couple of charlon players not in the squad that evening and me and the Cafc fans around.
As we came out the Police made matters worse by not letting our fans go left where many of us had parked our cars on the other side of South Norwood hill, and directing them toward the place fans coming out of the holmesdale road end.
A rubbish night on and off the pitch.

After being cosseted in a Premier academy at Everton, playing in men's football is tough for so many players. For every Conor Gallagher, there are a 1000 Connor McAleny's. Shit footballer, no, it all relative.0 -
Ok for us a shit footballer. But his strike partner was that Ahearne-Grant who left for Crawley and could hit a ball but barn doors had nothing to fear...soapboxsam said:

A guy who was a Simon Church power player in his 8 games for Charlton when he came into a poor side. He scored 20 goals in two seasons in League 1 with Wigan, Oxford and Fleetwood, not too shabby but no Lyle Taylor.
His career has now reached rock bottom.
Dog and duck reserves in his home city of Liverpool ? No, he's playing for Kilmarnock in Scottish premier ! 3 in 11 games.
