I think in the main Sarr had a really good season in League One last year, it’s probably about his level. 

Oshilaja looked pretty decent in his short cameo, I wouldn’t be surprised if he moves ahead of Sarr in the pecking order eventually.

Too early to write Sarr off. He’s just had his first good season with us, given time he can adapt to Championship football and three at the back. Especially with Bowyer as manager who’s shown how good he is at improving players.

At best it was hitting the outside of the post. I had a pretty good view of it being that side of the goal and only 5 rows from the front - Lyle definitely touched it.

Grant's already claimed it for himself.

The Naby Sarr Debate:

Until the semi final 2nd leg Naby was excellent when taking over from Pearce.
When Lee decided we needed the flexibility of five with Dijksteel and Purrington as wing backs( crazy some said as they can't attack, pre Wembley obviously) Naby's position became Corbenesque: far left !

Wembley highlighted the weakness of a giant being exposed outside his comfort Zone. The Comedy own goal which was tragic at the time, affected his, more than Dillion's confidence. Before being hooked by his Fisherman friend manager his game was imploding with the booking and he was dithering. Then Captain Old fashion CB Pearce came on for 2nd half and calmness ensued.

The narrative changed for many on CL and I understand Twitter yesterday, with talk of a horrendous pass for a corner and Sarr's poor header on the goal line leading to the goal ! When social media hiccups, bile pours out. Mistaken identify for the header and hyperbole for the pass But the damage had been done and like at Wembley the Correct decision was made even if it occured in the second half.

Disappointed that I only realised WIOTOS that the Nabster made the sweeping pass for Taylor's effort but the prerequisite of a defender is to defend 1st and there will be much work on the training ground but the extra skill of Championship Forwards and quicker brains may not make the Cruyff turn when last man possible for Naby now.

I understand that there is no room for sentiment in the brutas Championship but I have come here to praise Naby for his efforts not to bury him.

Removing someone on a yellow card makes sense, but removing them because they might make a mistake that leads to a goal, even though they haven't done that already, is a really weird and unfair interpretation. Probably he wanted to go to a back 4 and Sarr was the natural choice to come off as he'd been booked. If you think League One is his level you've been attending games blindfold 

He decided to match up with Blackburn. They changed their system soon after. It is what happens during games and a great thing about the way Bowyer sets up is that he can change things easily. 

Naby looks like an accident waiting to happen, but when you analyse the accidents, there are no more than other players. Like any player, he will have times when he is at the top of his game and times where he isn't. His passing from the back was very effective for us last season and can be this. It is harder to pass when there is less space. I suspect it was a game that didn't really play to his strengths.

He’s a good player and I think he will learn that we’ve stepped up a level and he’s not got the luxury of as much time on the ball as he had last season.  I expect him to go on and prove he’ll be an asset to the team.  Does just need to be a tad more aware of what’s going on around him and his role in a defensive back line, collectively.  

I mentioned it on player marks but last year Naby had so many out-balls available to him, either short to Cullen, Bielik or Purrington, or longer to Aribo/Taylor/Parker.

Yesterday, through a combination of Blackburn’s Championship quality press and the fact that Pratley and Lapslie aren’t as able to find that space as Cullen and Bielik are he was hurried in a way he wasn’t used to. We will improve our midfield and Sarr will adapt. He had a bad game but he improved so much over last year I am sure he can do it again. He just needs a bit of time, coaching and confidence.

With Naby I think, given time on the ball he can be real quality and look top drawer. 
Under pressure or having to make quick decisions he fails. 
With a bit of luck on the ball he can look quality as well, thing is as the standard increases you don't get that time on the ball and also your luck runs out. 

He's a good CH but shouldn't be receiving the ball under pressure on the flanks at any given time. 

Not quite sure how Bowyer and Jacko can improve on improving a player to make quicker decisions.

Agree.  Arguably the midfield in front of him at the end of last season is better than the one that has started this season.  That coupled with the step up means it’s another learning curve

It's a long season and we have a small squad so both Naby and Jason Pearce will play a full part with their contrasting strengths and weaknesses.

Our excellent manager will shuffle his pack to optimise their strengths just as he did yesterday.
