My deep sympathy to his family and friends. I saw the headline and initially thought no it can not be Darren Pitcher he is to young. So a real shock to learn this, it so shocking to hear about some one so young .

Very sad news. RIP Darren. I will never forget The Sun headline after the Blackburn Rovers FA Cup replay “Crash Bang Wallop Whata Pitcher”.

  • Very young indeed. Stalwart of the side when I first started going in early 90s and despite what happened leaving us, memories of him will be the Blackburn goal and assisting the first goal Back at the Valley. RIP
  • Such sad news, far too young. RIP

My overriding memory of Darren Pitcher was the assist for Colin Wash to score while I was at the valley despite my First born being due on that day ! Luckily My son waited to the 11th December 1992 to become another CAFC fan.

So sad when someone dies young at 49(same age that my closest aunt died )

    RIP Darren Pitcher.

  • Bloody hell. Big shock. One of the first Charlton players I ever remember in the early 90s. RIP Darren.

Like many others my lasting memory is as a 13 year old listening to the Blackburn replay on Capital Gold on a radio in my bedroom. Got too nervous to listen in the second half so hid for the last 25 mins. Turned on Ceefax and saw it was still 1-0 with Pitcher still being the only goal scorer.

Thoughts with his family and friends on what must be a horrible day for them. Rest in peace Darren
  • Tragic news. Shocked and saddened to hear this. RIP Darren, thanks for that night in Blackburn.
