The Takeover Thread - Duchatelet Finally Sells (Jan 2020)

One thing I know for a 100% fact is that Roland asked the Scottish group to give him 5mil if we were promoted by 2020. He was constantly moving the goalposts.Addickted said:
Not sure that's the case as I heard about the middle eastern interest on Thursday.Covered_End_Lad said:My guess would be that RD has seen we now have a moderate chance of a playoff place and has moved the goalposts at the last minute. Absolute tosser.
Perhaps he changed his mind on that or negotiated this into any deal, but it would not surprise me one bit if Roland was making calls adding a mil or 2 at 5pm yesterday.

Given how his judgement has taken a complete nose dive in recent years, I hope we go for the other one then!Fanny Fanackapan said:
Reading this post I've remembered that RM stated yesterday that of the 2 groups, one was his particular "favourite".Davidsmith said:
They are one and the same, searching for cash then they found Muir, but still way short on their bid.Airman Brown said:
There is a substantial backstory to Andrew Muir’s involvement, which dates back to last summer. The durability of that - even if you think it’s not true - is evidenced by the cover of VOTV136 last August.Davidsmith said:Maybe old Roland putting out story of Aussies deal done to get others to close deal. Aussies been around for a year, suddenly Andrew Muir is involved? For how much? Who else is investing?
Lots of bluff and double bluff going on here I would assume.
WIOTOS
There hasn’t been any significant rumour about the identity of the “second” group other than Murray telling staff it was British. If you’re going to point to the public insubstantiality of the Aussie group, this is much more true of the other one.
Not Murray’s choice either from all accounts, he is tied in with another bid we here.5 -
Roland heard that we won with a new manager yesterday and wants to see if we'll get into the play offs and get promoted so he can ask for more money.0

I'm thinking it's more like Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap ( Who will it be ?)robroy said:I sometimes think we are part of a computer simulation being played by Crystal Palace fans...
But renamed The Rat Trap.3 -
It's very much been a case of the usual twitter bods bleating on as if they have some inside scoop then saying things like 'its done but it's not done'
Realistically none of us will know until it's announced on the official channels.
End of.1 -
I would be surprised if there were not already add-on clauses in any draft agreement - x on promotion to the Championship, y on promotion to the PL. On that basis it should already be accounted for.Callumcafc said:Roland heard that we won with a new manager yesterday and wants to see if we'll get into the play offs and get promoted so he can ask for more money.

AFKA, you are treading on thin ice my friend! I was at Hull Uni from 1973-76. A great place in those days. The poet Phillip Larkin was the head of the university library in those days.AFKABartram said:I suspect there is as much chance of a takeover being announced tomorrow as there is that Hull will be widely accepted with Oxford and Cambridge as one of our three great historic universities

I will nail my balls the mast and say I have no knowledge of it happening any time soon so if it happens I will be happy and surprisedcharltonbob said:

Seems to be a lot of spurious information leaking out about the sale from multiple sources, not all of which can be correct.Howells said:It's very much been a case of the usual twitter bods bleating on as if they have some inside scoop then saying things like 'its done but it's not done'

Not sure if it isn't deliberate.0 -

Seems like this takeover could last longer than The Mousetrap. Of the almost 600 pages I think only 3 or 4 have given me any hope.Fanny Fanackapan said:

Bit of a catch 22 - the longer it takes for the takeover to go through the longer Bowyer and Jacko are given a chance in their new roles!
What would everybody prefer?
It would be such a shame for the Aussies to come in and immediately replace them!3 -
God help us.kidbrookeaddick said:Angeldust claims on the other site that another party entered DD proceedings on wednesday which may prolong deal being finalised

Well, if waiting a little while longer means that we get better owners with more resources, then fine.
It's not as if we have any choice about the waiting bit, anyway, is it?
Just trying to stay sane.....

We are still in talks..

I think I would rather the Australians buy us and we put an end to Duchatelet once and for all next week!6

As long as the sale includes the valley and sparrows lane and it's a complete takeover leaving Roland with nothing of our club I'll be happy.13

Announcement: "Roland Duchatalet today completed the sale of Charlton Athletic FC, including all its assets, The Valley, Sparrows Lane training ground and all player registrations for a sum of £200m - with payment to be met over five years by the club - to Belgian businessman and investor Roderick Duchatalet".blackpool72 said:As long as the sale includes the valley and sparrows lane and it's a complete takeover leaving Roland with nothing of our club I'll be happy.

Amazing amount of patience being shown by the Aussies all things considered.3
