  • Curbs liked Carlo. Enough said.
  • I am perplexed as to how Carlo never scored more goals. You could take a guy off a park on a Sunday, put him upfront and he would be as prolific. Superb touch, good in the air. Corners into the box, you'd think the ball would drop at his feet occasionally. We had Bennett Morts Stuart Lee and other decent wingers in his time.

Was thrown into the team too soon/young, lot of pressure plus Struggerling team.
I think in his last 2-3 seasons with us his Goal tally was actually quite respectable, even getting into double figures once I think.
91/92 was his breakthrough season with 14 I think. After that he was never prolific, but then he was generally the foil for other strikers who would be expected to score more (especially after the signings of David Whyte (RIP), Bradley Allen and then Super Clive)

Thank **** for that, because if it was bad, I would put money on our medical team to mismanage it.

It's a new UK government, but it's the same old Tories

My issue with our medical set up is not so much with individuals, since I don't know anything about them. It is that I believe the budget for this area has almost certainly been cut in line with other cost areas, as it would be the natural response of a businessman to falling revenue, and neither he nor Meire have the football experience to understand the consequences.

Unfortunately, "not that bad" in this instance could be 6-8 weeks if it's a sprain. Given we have no clear cover, this is a huge problem. Watt is not a lone forward, and seemingly nowhere near fit enough to play 90 minutes (despite having been at Hearts for the entire first half of the year...which is weird). If it wasn't clear before, i think it is now that we really need to bring in another forward.

I agree we need him back asap but Karl suggested that Novak would be back for next week. Whilst he hasn't set the world alight he he the right sort of striker to be leading the line in a 4231 and has good experience and has scored plenty of goals in this league. His season hasn't really got going with a few unlucky injuries but a run in the side would be good to see if he does well.

And still have Watt to play alongside him/ come on for the last 20 mins and run at their defenders.

If Josh is out then I doubt we could sign anyone better than Novak to fill his shoes.

fingers crossed a) josh not to bad and b) Novak pretty much fit

It's a new UK government, but it's the same old Tories

We realise that news probably hasn't reached Prague yet, but Rudd and Holmes both played vs Millwall on Saturday.

The point being that they returned on schedule after treatment by the medical team. (Obviously Rudd left his wheelchair behind the goal).

It appears with social media and the web that the existence of an audience eggs the purveyor of conspiracy theories on towards increasingly rococo conclusions.

You don't have a convenient fact to bolster your argument - simples make it up.

It's a shame that with all this angst, you are missing the bigger picture

What is the bigger picture then @seriously_red? From what I am hearing, the medical budget is still a lot to be desired for, along with the current training facilities.

Fair point about those two. Good to see.

As you know, I am anti- conspiracy theories, and those who peddle them. I made it absolutely clear that I have not seen the P&L budget spreadsheet. As such I did not make anything up since I did not report anything as a fact, merely an educated guess, based on other obvious cost-cutting exercises for which there is ample evidence.

I ask this with some trepidation, but what is the "bigger picture" you speak of?

When you're praising the medical team for managing not to dick up the treatment of two routine injuries then you know you're grasping at straws.

I think this may the first recorded use of the term rococo on a football forum. Ever.

Because he hasn't been seen by the Medical team yet.

They've been told to cut costs and now Josh has to wait a fortnight for an appointment.

Well there's a bit of a difference between strolling around Bluewater and playing professional football for 90+ minutes against opponents who know your ankle is a bit dodgy.

Dunno... I'd say Bluewater is worse, on a Football field its usually just a late challenge thats quite often an accident, at Bluewater injuries can be much worse when some stupid bitch who isnt looking where they're going takes you out!!

Rudd was originally due back over Christmas. Might have been an innocent additional injury, I genuinely have no insight on the current quality of medical care at Sparrows Lane, but he was back a few weeks behind schedule.
