Thank **** for that, because if it was bad, I would put money on our medical team to mismanage it.
New medical team
It's a new UK government, but it's the same old Tories
My issue with our medical set up is not so much with individuals, since I don't know anything about them. It is that I believe the budget for this area has almost certainly been cut in line with other cost areas, as it would be the natural response of a businessman to falling revenue, and neither he nor Meire have the football experience to understand the consequences.
We realise that news probably hasn't reached Prague yet, but Rudd and Holmes both played vs Millwall on Saturday.
The point being that they returned on schedule after treatment by the medical team. (Obviously Rudd left his wheelchair behind the goal).
It appears with social media and the web that the existence of an audience eggs the purveyor of conspiracy theories on towards increasingly rococo conclusions.
You don't have a convenient fact to bolster your argument - simples make it up.
It's a shame that with all this angst, you are missing the bigger picture
Fair point about those two. Good to see.
As you know, I am anti- conspiracy theories, and those who peddle them. I made it absolutely clear that I have not seen the P&L budget spreadsheet. As such I did not make anything up since I did not report anything as a fact, merely an educated guess, based on other obvious cost-cutting exercises for which there is ample evidence.
I ask this with some trepidation, but what is the "bigger picture" you speak of?
i assume he means that we are a mid table League One club going no where so why bother getting players back on the pitch quickly? (Especially given that there are a lot less people there to watch them anyway)
Josh was out and about in Bluewater earlier to-day.
Can't be a bad sprain then if he walking about shopping. Why are people saying out for two weeks?
Well there's a bit of a difference between strolling around Bluewater and playing professional football for 90+ minutes against opponents who know your ankle is a bit dodgy.
Even then, if the injury was even half bad then you'd wouldn't be out shopping the day after

Dunno... I'd say Bluewater is worse, on a Football field its usually just a late challenge thats quite often an accident, at Bluewater injuries can be much worse when some stupid bitch who isnt looking where they're going takes you out!!
Also, I think I'm safe to say this - it was a completely ridiculous challenge that he should never have made. Wholehearted but completely self-destructive in that instant. And it should have been a yellow card :P
100% we need to sign a replacement. Nobody in our squad can offer what he does.
Loan or permanent I don't care....but if we are to play a 4-2-3-1 then we need someone we don't currently own to be that frontman. Novak is the nearest but isn't fit
He's clearly made of strong stuff. Thought that was it for the season
Ditto, a month is about the best we could hope for. Probably means it's *just* a sprain.
I think the replacement talk will come down to what KR thinks of Novak, and what kind of shape he's in. I think he's only played 90 minutes in the league a couple times so far this season. As I mentioned earlier, he turned up in pre season looking about a stone overweight, which is fine, but he doesn't really seem to have lost it. Mobility is key for that lone forward role, and I'm just not sure with the physical condition he's in that he's ready for that right now.
If KR feels that, when he's fit, that he can be a good understudy to Josh, then it may make sense to stick for at least another week before bringing someone in. Having two players, plus Umerah and Hanlan and maybe Ajose to occupy that lone forward role, should be enough. If Novak is up for it, then bringing in another player would basically be as a stop gap for 3-4 weeks while Magennis heals and Novak gets fit, and I'm not sure that's where I'd spend our transfer money. Would rather we brought in a game changing attacking player (someone who can play in a couple places across the "attacking three") and used Ajose or Umerah up there for a week or two, maybe even Watt if he can get fitter.
I'm not hanging my hopes on Novak, who is bottom of the CL stats at 5.21 (of players that have played a decent number).
Also, the chances of RD allowing us to sign a good striker because Magennis is out for a month, is close to zero I should imagine. A replacement if Ajose goes yes, but to cover Magennis, no.
Out for more like 6 or 7 weeks and now we find out he's already got a plate in his ankle Did he not have a medical or do driesens talents extend to doing them by laptop from his bedroom too? I shouldn't be surprised by anything shitty from this preposterous regime but just when we think we've heard it all they reach yet another unprecedented depth of stupidity. There simply are no words

If he's already got a plate in his ankle, then he's had a break there in the past. It hasn't seemed to affect his performances for Charlton.
But that shouldn't be anything to do with his current injury, which sounds like he's torn an ankle ligament. It's routine and not a long term problem, as long as he's not rushed back before the injury is fully healed.

If Ajose is off, I don't think we' be looking for a like-for-like replacement.
Torn lateral ankle ligaments is always 6 weeks minimum. Vertonghen has done the same at Spurs and they are saying 6 or 7 weeks. If there is also a plate in there, it could be complicated and a bit longer. When there is a twist of the ankle, the bottom of the tibia can also chip. The comment that it's not as serious as we thought, probably means it's a straight-forward tear.
It's never honest information with this mob, even on injuries.

Do we have confirmation that it's ligament tear, or just a sprain?

A sprain is the same as a ligament tear. There are different levls of sprain. From past experience, he should be back playing in about 4-6 weeks. He may be quicker because of the specialist treatment and monitoring his injury will receive.

Will be a huge miss
