Welcome Josh and all the very best of good fortune .. looks as though Plan A is for Botaka to get lots of crosses into the box for Josh to score and cause havoc and for Ajose to whack home a few rebounds .. let's hope that Holmes & Co can get a good supply of ball to Botaka .. (we're still very very weak in midfield)
I hope that they both start on Saturday

Um, this is my new favorite thing.

The Scots are a notoriously dour people, are you sure this isn't just his way of saying "hey Josh, hope you're well!"

You have too much time on your hands !
Agreed - why anyone outside of Scotland would want to voluntarily want to watch scottish league football is beyond me

You could be right. But it happens to be part of my job.
So you're one of Roland's laptop scouts.

  • Good Luck Josh, we need all the help we can get

I saw Simon Church play for Wales... Is he a Northern Irish Bale or Church?

Looks more like Marcus Bent type player.

I was impressed when I watched him in the play-offs for Kilmarnock last year.

Scored and two assists in that game. Really made the difference between the two sides. He spent a lot of last season on the right wing and has more to offer than most people on here are expecting.

A good signing at League one level......
That's the key thing to try and remember isn't it. None of these are exciting signings, but none will be when you're playing league one football.

  • Any Scottish football fans care to voice an opinion 11 league goals does not seem a bad return for a Target Man !
  • Because slade has to tow the line or he is a goner , no one can expect him to say the truth about the dozy meire

    Worth a punt without doubt.

Killie were poor last season, but he was by far their shining light. Magennis is a decent pro who will give his all and he is a decent League one level player. The Euros helped him focus last season and his fitness levels meant he improved vastly.

A lot of you will be pleasantly surprised!!

Excellent. He comes across very well in the interview, sounds like a nice, grounded young man.

Even though I think he's shit*, I hope he does well :).

How does he pronounce his surname?

    Ma-Guinness

    Ma-Gen- is

    Mag- Inn -is

    I wel omo?

    I wel oomo?

    Iwell u Mo?

    Big Chris?

    I'm living in the past.

I'm fairly certain even the legend BDL never pronounced it the same twice!

I always pronounced it "Oo-well-ooo-mo." Apparently I was wrong, or not. Who knows.
  • Why are people saying things like "for £100k he's worth the gamble"?

We have the money so why not spend an extra £400k and get someone half decent?

This guy won't last 5 minutes with our fans. He's not a very good player and he'll be hammered.

By the way if he signs I'll be right behind him but I just don't think he's good enough.

I got 8 likes for being so wrong!

    Apologies Josh.

Sometimes a player just clicks. The fans appreciate them, they seem to "get" the club and it works for everyone.

Much like it did with Yann - neither had really put down roots until Charlton. Maybe we are a bit special...

    Gentle reminder!!

Admittedly I did have the advantage of having seen him play, all be it on an artificial pitch....

    Leaburn | Bartlett | Burton | Kermorgant | Magennis

All Strikers that we've liked at Charlton and all have a real battling side about them
  • Really like Josh - my player of the season so far.

I liked the last four the first I hated for 10 long long years along with a lot of other fans
  • People complaining about signing a striker "when other positions are needed more" make me laugh. Do you think we should delay signing him because other positions are needed more. Should we only look at signing Creative midfielders (which are like gold dust at this level) I'm happy were signing him because it gives us an other option upfront, altho

This is what was in my draft when I opened the thread. The creative midfielder never came "crying emoji"
