Wilder close (DEAL OFF - page 31)

They had Phil Chapple and Damian Matthew (maybe others) on a six month rolling contract, so I would expect them to offer Wilder something similar. The bloke lives in Sheffield I believe and used to commute to Northampton, so if he comes here he might need to re-locate, and a six month contract is no basis for upping sticks and moving.
If there is a snag then I would not be suprised. I suspect that if Wilder gets wiser he should insist on everything in writing including football assurances as well as personal contract.3 -
Gary Jacob tells Charlton Life that he heard it was a done deal yesterday.
Rich Cawley implies this morning there's been a snag.2 -

Even that is probably a bit optimistic, we should offer our contracts in weeks rather than months or years.ricky_otto said:colin1961 said:Think your looking at 3 to 4 month deal .....

Perhaps Alan Knill got cold feet because of the number of squirrels in Greenwich park.7

Northampton Town manager Chris Wilder is set to take over at Charlton Athletic after a deal between the two parties was ‘done’, according to The Times.
Journalist Gary Jacob claims the League Two title winning boss is now set to depart Sixfields alongside assistant manager Alan Knill.
He tweeted: “Charlton Athletic deal for Chris Wilder done and assistant Alan Knill set to follow from Northampton”

IF Wilder does sign up for the circus and that's looking a big if at the moment, then at least it's a sign that he is his own man and not taken in by their bullshit. Whatever I still doubt he'll be in charge come the first game.0

He's refused to sign a contract written in crayon9

Isn't it 'normal' football practise these days to offer a manager a long contract and then just break it with a bit of compensation thrown in when you do ?4

Be amazed if he beats Mel Baroni's employment recordcfgs said:

Nebojša Vignjević to be announced later today then.0

If the length of the Contract is an issue it makes the four year deal that Naby Sarr got even more ludicrous6

Damn I was hoping for that Nobby Vinegar fellow that everyone keeps mentioning.FishCostaFortune said:Nebojša Vignjević to be announced later today.

How can you possibly you build something long term when the entire football management team are on 6 or 12 months rolling contracts?
While it protects the 'business' if something goes wrong, it is a total liability if the club is successful as your asset can walk away. Why would you set up the football side of things planning for failure rather than targeting success? If your judgement is so bad as to get through 7 managers/head coaches in two years and then identify a new one and stick him on a 12 month contract then the question should be why are you still making decisions and not allowing someone with better judgement to make them?

Said it as soon as his name was mentioned. The halfwits running the club can go after whatever manager they want. The second Roland or Meire open their mouths and talk to said manager, its game over.13

The other thing that it says to me is that Roly isn't looking to sell soon. Otherwise he wouldn't care about the length of the contract, because he wouldn't be here.T said:How can you possibly you build something long term when the entire football management team are on 6 or 12 months rolling contracts?

Wilder probably didn't know too much about our plight until the past few days. He agreed to meet. Fine.
Problem for Duchatelet is that Wilder's got plenty of contacts in the game who have had dealings with us in the last couple of years.
It's slowly unraveling to him what a basket case club we are.5 -

He wants someone to get us back up to the championship, he doesn't want someone long term. Once we're back in the championship that's when the Luzons, Peeters', Rigas come in to carry out his dirty plan.WestCountryAddick said:

I've heard it's sticking on Wilder's pronounciation of the word "Appy"3
