In my opinion, that condition probably doesn't absolve the club IF (and it's a big if) anyone was prepared to take it further. First, it's a condition along with the rest, that you don't get the opportunity of reading BEFORE entering into a contract with the club. The first time you see it (maybe) is when you get your season ticket card (as it will be next season) IF they bother to provide you with a copy. The OS still has the T&Cs for the season just ending despite having passed its deadline for paying for the next year's ticket! Second, if they don't provide you with a like-for-like alternative they will be in breach of consumer legislation. Some such breaches are criminal in nature. (The legislation was partially put in place to help prevent people mis-describing tickets available for music events but it applies to all other events including sport too.)
So, in summary. they may get away with it as a one-off as long as they don't push people into crap alternative seating. BUT if they try it again next year they may find they have issues.
If they really think this is a good wheeze, and they might use it for the future, then they have a legal obligation to tell everyone before next season starts not just rely upon a probably unenforceable clause in the T&Cs. What they probably should have done is just shut down that part of the ground permanently, move everyone out and left it empty until such time as there was demand from the away support.
It remains to be seen what other measures they will be putting in place. How will they segregate/monitor home/away support outside the West Stand and keep "enthusiastic" away supporters out of the West Stand car park area, for example? I hope they have thought this through properly but I have my doubts.
I would assume that Bournemouth would enter and exit the ground via Valley Grove and that we will be marched around Charlton for an hour or so before being allowed entry to the train station or back to our cars.
Hey don't be a spoilsport, our CEO wants as many away fans as possible to enjoy the day.
I'm a bit late to this one but the way I see it their fans want to enjoy the day on the biggest game in the clubs history - and we have facilitated that. I'd hope a club would do something similar if we were in that position.
And it's more money for the club.

This is a seat to watch a football match, your not being turfed out your house. Katrien could have been quicker, but they have every right to do this. Next season we might need extra tickets for our promotion party

I do think there has been some massive over reaction this ! Some people obviously have little else to worry about. Come on get some perspective, the Goverment lets 624,000 immigrants into your country for the rest of their lives last year ! KM has let somebody from Bournmouth sit in your seat for 90 minutes ! I know what I'm more pissed off with !

It's pleasant, I think, that so many people want to be so charitable to Bournemouth fans.
I'm looking at it in a slightly different way: as a consumer rather than a fan. Mainly because I believe that's the way the club sees me
If a Ford dealer had sold me a Kuga but then actually delivered me a, say, Ka, with free floor mats to make up for the difference, I would not be too happy about it, especially if they went on to tell me that, although the Kuga had been on order for nearly a year, at the last minute, a very nice gentleman from the South Coast had offered them more money for it and they sold it to him instead. I would then explain in words of more than one syllable why it was unacceptable and in breach of (quite a few different bits of) consumer legislation.
In this instance I have a contract with a company called Charlton Athletic Football Club Ltd. I fulfilled my part of the contract by paying in advance for a seat at 23 games close to the half way line in the Upper Tier of a stand in order to get just about the best possible view.
If CAFC Ltd are now reneging on that contract, they will have to pay me recompense in terms of some actual money, not a fecking food voucher. I will I hope (I've more research to do) be citing either the Sales Of Goods Act or the Supply of Goods And Services Act together with the Consumer Protection From Unfair Trading Regulations whenever they can be arsed to call me. We'll see what happens but the CPFUTR seem quite promising in that they appear to indicate that I'll be able to claim additional costs and I'll be able to point out that what they've done may very well be criminal in nature.
Pass on this to me as I would like to challenge this too.

We'd be very happy at extra seat allocation if we were likely to secure promotion away from home.
