suzi...may not be your cup of tea, but the Globe (Henry V?) is rarely rubbish. Mind you went to see Romeo and Juliet there about 3 years ago, and was delighted when Juliet died as she was awful.
I saw midsummer nights dream there once - was good, but would prefer a bit of a sing song and/or a dance if I'm honest.
Went to see Carousel last Thursday at the Barbican. I did like it, but it wasn't the best thing I've seen. I'd say this is probably because i'm not overly familiar with the film, so wasn't so 'into it'. having said that, the dance at the end by Louise, was the most amazing contemporarly choreography. Very impressive.

Going to see 'Morning' at the Lyric Hammersmith on Thursday. I have it on good authority that the Taming of the Shrew at the Globe is well worth seeing. I can't get to it, but will certainly take in Checkhov's Three Sisters at the Young Vic very soon.

I felt the same. For a show that was billed as Musical of the Century by Time magazine I felt slightly let down. I also had the misfortune to have the smelliest pensioner ever sat next to me and there were no spare seats to move to. EUGH!
Went to see Morning at Hammersmith Lyric this evening. Interesting, and kind of thought provoking in a Samuel Beckett/Brecht fusion kind of style. personally I think it was a better experience than Government Inspector, Top Girls, All New People and (controversially) One Man Two Governors all of which I have seen recently. (Thought One Man was a 6/10 at best). Next up is Mother Courage at the Greenwich Theatre, and then Three Sisters by Checkhov who is one of my faves. Saw Joanna Whalley years ago at Greenwich in Three Sisters....my goodness she was/is one beautiful woman.

My mum had some yorkshire amateur dramatic wannabe next to her singing along, tapping her foot, and fingers and fake conducting the orchestra the whole way through, mum kept on having to squeeze my arm to stop herself laughing.
not really into theatre but went to see mamma mia, which was great except that you had abba songs floating around in your head for the following two weeks and I also went to see little shop of horrors at the churchill in bromley which was fantastic!!
Blood Brothers started as a humble Theatre in Education project for schools, but it is a nice piece if you like musicals. Not spectacular but a million time better than We Will Rock You for instance because there is at least a story.
Went to see Volcano on Friday at the New Vaudeville Theatre- a Noel Coward play which was never performed in his lifetime. It was an interesting historical piece, but not a great night out. The reason why it is only now being performed is it's all about the relationships of the various characters and the male lead is bi-sexual - probably a bit too much when it was written.
Tonight we have tickets to see Jesus Christ Superstar at the O2 - not something I would've picked myself and I did try to give my ticket to my son - no dice.
Well, I'm a convert. What a rocking show. Never mind the 'Would Ya's', Mel C proved she can sing tonight. Tim Minchin puts in an impressive performance and the guy who won the telly comp is competent at least. Chris Moyes is on stage for about 10 minutes but got one of the best rounds of applause.

Got a slating in the Guardian with a one star...lots of complaints about the lyrics being unclear, and loads of (too much) leaping about, but Chris Moyles gets a bit of praise. Mind you reviews are not reliable as One Man Two Governors got five stars and I thought it was average at best. Off to see Three Sisters at the Young Vic next Wednesday, looking forward to two blimmin nights out in a row what with the Watford game on Tuesday.
Went to see Checkhov's 'Three Sisters' at the Young Vic last night, we very impressed and enjoyed it hugely..an 8.5 from me. The translation was fresh, and I suppose modern as in a few swear words, but the play also managed a spirited version of 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', and some very interesting staging. I reckon like Shakespeare, Checkov is virtually actor-proof, but the process of creating the thing risks a bit of self-indulgence which this version just avoided. Seen the play quite a bit and thought this one had the best 'Andrei' I've seen, as well as the best 'Vershinin', the other parts were strong though, as was the whole production. I am intrigued that in these tough economic times live theatre is holding up. The place was 95% full last night, and this for a classic rather than a big musical. If you get a chance you won't regret seeing it.
Thought it would be for kids and therefore not set my world on fire, but boy I was wrong. There obviously were kid friendly bits, but adult humour too. I'd go and see it again and again (like Billy Elliot) So clever. Choreography and stage setting is incredible and the song writing is something else. All the kids on stage were awesome too. Took me back to my childhood and made me wonder if I'd get some strange looks if I started re-reading all my Roald Dahl books on the train to work in the mornings? If fully grown adults can read Harry Potter (book for 12 yr olds) then it must be ok right?
Seen Blood brothers with various casts...Lyn Paul definately the best Mrs Johnstone IMO, but all the others including most of the Nolan sisters were top notch also. Every performance is so different, a very intimate show thats hard to get bored of. Close thing between BB and Chess for me.

Theatre Complicite, one of my favourite theatre company's are performing 'The Master and Margarita ' at the Barbican from the middle of december through to mid Jan,I really recommend this.

Being an old rocker, missing the occasional lyric doesn't bother me.
