Not sure what decision is to be made this evening?
Maybe they mean the final decision between Reading and the player about whether he will be available for them this weekend. And nothing actually to do with us.
Probably. Love to know why we pulled the deal . Can only be two things . He failed the medical or Reading/Knibbs wanted more money . I’d put money on it being the medical.
  • Yeah that tweet is rather ambiguous and could mean anything either way. Maybe we've restructured the bid because of a medical issue or maybe it's as Callum says " are you fit to play"

I know the club will never say what happened to the deal, but at the same time knowing that fans will be spitting feathers about it falling through, and without at least a post on the OS as to the reasons for that decision, the club know speculation will be the result....Catch 22...I'm afraid that we will never know the facts....🤷‍♂️

  • Maybe we dodged a bullet

I’m sure we will get the info from Cawley eventually but the club won’t say anything officially.

  • Sounds like we’ve put it on hold rather than it called it off completely with a final decision being made this evening.

If it is medical related it’s a lot to spend if we’re not sure he’ll be able to continue playing 40+ games a season. I’d imagine that would be the intention, unlike say Burke who won’t be expected to start every game.

  • Sounding like maybe someone better has become available?

Intriguing. Can you elaborate a little @CAFCsayer?

Seeing as the club has said absolutely nothing regarding the signing of Knibbs then they dont have to say they are now not signing him.

    True

The club only has an obligation to say anything when it's signed and official.  Until then it's all speculation and gossip.

Even hopping around on one leg I reckon he would still start for us and do the business.

Go on Charlton, bring the Knibbsinator in, it's only one bad knee, he's still got the other
  • Played a lot through injury last season according to a Reading fan.

  • Wonder if Spurs are now up for selling not merely loaning Donley?

Putting aside the disappointment for a second this has been a brilliant few hours of CL/forums. We’ve had iron clad ITK’s become doubtful, a meltdown on the other forum, snipes between both, saw someone say not signing him means we’ve gone from guaranteed to staying up to being guaranteed to be in a relegation scrap, one poster with a conspiracy theory about the CEO they can’t let go, plenty of CL in jokes and it’s still only 3 o clock. Just need him to sign at 5 for it to be complete
    But no fish puns
That would take this off the scale
  • Pure speculation, but if Burke has picked up an injury already, perhaps the board were not prepared to take any risks with another signing, if the Knibbs medical wasn't spot on.

Don’t get me all excited like that
  • Any sense on how much Donley would cost? And whether Spurs would be willing to sell? ChatGPT says his contract runs out in 2029 and is valued at circa £2m

I would be absolutely astonished if that were true. I can't see it happening myself.
  • Absolutely no chance Spurs are selling one of their highest rated young prospects. Will be a loan like they've done with Mikey Moore and likely to do with Will Lankshear.

That, or we've gone in with a lower number because of an issue in the medical, and they're deciding on that?
Quite plausible IMHO or alternatively our side are deciding whether to go ahead and/or make a revised offer.

    WIOTOS.
  • ...we have pulled out. Looks like NJ might have cold feet or we have a better option around the corner.
