Not sure what decision is to be made this evening?
Maybe they mean the final decision between Reading and the player about whether he will be available for them this weekend. And nothing actually to do with us.
Probably. Love to know why we pulled the deal . Can only be two things . He failed the medical or Reading/Knibbs wanted more money . I’d put money on it being the medical.

Yeah that tweet is rather ambiguous and could mean anything either way. Maybe we've restructured the bid because of a medical issue or maybe it's as Callum says " are you fit to play"

I know the club will never say what happened to the deal, but at the same time knowing that fans will be spitting feathers about it falling through, and without at least a post on the OS as to the reasons for that decision, the club know speculation will be the result....Catch 22...I'm afraid that we will never know the facts....🤷‍♂️

I’m sure we will get the info from Cawley eventually but the club won’t say anything officially.

Time for a house buying analogy.

I reckon this is a bit like buying a house and at the day of exchange you see something in the survey that you’re not happy with. You then go back into negotiations.  Buyer threatens to walk away and the seller thinks that if they love it enough they will pay full price.

While wanting to know what's happened, theres absolutely no need for the club to write an article on OS about it.

I don't have insider knowledge I'd want to claim on record, but I know of people with some level of feel towards what's happening at the club and this was done as of Tuesday I heard, player keen to come etc. Knibbs name was being chased from 2 months ago and a summer long target.

My view only - I really believe its just down to Reading wanting more money now, no failed medical nonsense. Player kicks up a stink, it will get done eventually just further down the line. We may choose to move on to make them panic but I'd imagine other clubs would be circling too so that part is a risk. Depends how much he really wants to join us vs just joining any Champ team for the status.

In any case, there will be backups and someone like Jamie Donley is a target. Rak Sakyi was a legit target too but with minimal chances of success due to other, richer competition. He would come here. We will 100% have Prem loans in mind to trade late on if we couldn't get the primary permanent targets.

There's still gonna be 1.8m left floating around in the budget for starters so investment in this position will be made one way or another.

Sounds like we’ve put it on hold rather than it called it off completely with a final decision being made this evening.

If it is medical related it’s a lot to spend if we’re not sure he’ll be able to continue playing 40+ games a season. I’d imagine that would be the intention, unlike say Burke who won’t be expected to start every game.

Seeing as the club has said absolutely nothing regarding the signing of Knibbs then they dont have to say they are now not signing him.

Sounding like maybe someone better has become available?

Thinks going on today. I'm expecting something to happen later.
Well......you can all blame me now then. Only time I thought I might been ITK and it all goes pear shaped.

Intriguing. Can you elaborate a little @CAFCsayer?

    True

The club only has an obligation to say anything when it's signed and official.  Until then it's all speculation and gossip.

Even hopping around on one leg I reckon he would still start for us and do the business.

Go on Charlton, bring the Knibbsinator in, it's only one bad knee, he's still got the other

Played a lot through injury last season according to a Reading fan.

Wonder if Spurs are now up for selling not merely loaning Donley?

Played through injury but managed 45 games, 3812 minutes, 16 goals and 6 assists, some player to achieve those numbers through injury.

Reece Burke must have sent his identical twin to get through his medical.

Putting aside the disappointment for a second this has been a brilliant few hours of CL/forums. We’ve had iron clad ITK’s become doubtful, a meltdown on the other forum, snipes between both, saw someone say not signing him means we’ve gone from guaranteed to staying up to being guaranteed to be in a relegation scrap, one poster with a conspiracy theory about the CEO they can’t let go, plenty of CL in jokes and it’s still only 3 o clock. Just need him to sign at 5 for it to be complete
    But no fish puns
That would take this off the scale

Pure speculation, but if Burke has picked up an injury already, perhaps the board were not prepared to take any risks with another signing, if the Knibbs medical wasn't spot on.

Any sense on how much Donley would cost? And whether Spurs would be willing to sell? ChatGPT says his contract runs out in 2029 and is valued at circa £2m

I would be absolutely astonished if that were true. I can't see it happening myself.

Knibbs obviously isn't carrying any injuries. A definite deal breaker for us

Absolutely no chance Spurs are selling one of their highest rated young prospects. Will be a loan like they've done with Mikey Moore and likely to do with Will Lankshear.

That, or we've gone in with a lower number because of an issue in the medical, and they're deciding on that?
Quite plausible IMHO or alternatively our side are deciding whether to go ahead and/or make a revised offer.

...we have pulled out. Looks like NJ might have cold feet or we have a better option around the corner.
