My guess would be Dai Yong doing something at the last minute, known for this sort of thing
He sold months ago - it’s now former Wycombe owner Rob Couhig in charge.

Baffles me we took no cheap Reading players then were willing to pay them the first decent fee they get in a while!
Would have taken Lewis Wing in January or Charlie Savage tbh.

Wouldn't expect NJ to address it , will be the usual line about not talking about other people's players.

Hi all, not sure what has happened and being away is making it difficult to get information.

The timeline for me has been: I was told all was agreed and Knibbs was at SL on Monday, he was at the game on Tuesday and took part in drills and I was then told it was “done” last night. No reason to doubt the person who told me at all because they told me about Kelman, Fukuda, Bennett, Assimwe and some other bits earlier in the window. Seems like something has happened at the 11th hour, whether that be a change in personal terms or something coming back on a medical that was unexpected but I really don’t know at this stage. If I hear I will say, but it is a shame because he was the No.1 target from the beginning of the window. I personally thought he would be a great addition and the most exciting one. Hopefully we get clarity from some of the journalists involved when they talk to the managers.
I’ve got zero knowledge of this but when odd things happen in a transfer there is always another party involved who evades any scrutiny: the player’s agent.

    Just sayin’ 😉

Anyone know what the latest on the ownership at Reading is ?
Isn’t John Madjeski still the main man at Elm Park?

Not doubting the info passed on and grateful it has been but the running at the Ipswich game is really grating on me for some reason. There’s no way another club would let a player effectively train with us until everything was signed and sorted. If that has happened then something odd has gone on, imagine if he’d got an injury and then we sent him back to Reading. They’d be fuming

yep, that doesn't add up and I can't believe for one second that actually happened.

Exactly this. It is a nonsense.

Real shame about Knibbs. Looks like a Charlton type of player.

Totally agree and I said that the other day even though I got ridiculed on another forum and got a few lols , Goddenole is massively in credit with the info he’s given I’m just not having he was running on the pitch the other night and I’m still adamant they were shouting ibs and not Knibbs and would love it if we could get confirmation from Cawley if it’s true or not.

On your last point I’m sure someone said that Cawley had denied seeing Knibbs, think he’d have noticed if an unsigned players name had been shouted while he was recording a podcast

I think Dane Murphy has been involved with this transfer and that’s where the problem sits. Too much of a coincidence that we’ve had him now not joining and this transfer falling over.

The Knibbs/Ibs thing and people thinking they heard something on the audio was the bit I didn't buy.

When are players / staff ever referring to each other by their last names? That's something that fans do, not internal support staff.

Noel Hunt does say ‘hopefully he’s with us at the weekend’ in that interview.
    Any chance it’s resurrected?

I'm just wondering how @Goddenole can be so adamant that Knibbs was there Tuesday doing some running after the match if not true, assume it was from the same source as the rest of his ITK stuff, and he sounded quite assured it did happen, as strange as that appears...

As from tomorrow we can sign Fukuda on a pre-contract agreement and that could massively reduce the £800k fee to join us now.

Was he “effectively training with us”?
Joining in a warm down to loosen up before a coach trip home and chat with what you thought were new team-mates seems innocuous and better than just waiting around.

The question is: is the deal completely dead or is it a bump in the road? The Kelman deal took weeks to get over the line.

Seems innocuous but still a chance to pull a muscle, roll an ankle etc

What if the rumours of his actually having signed were accurate but because of Dane Murphy’s involvement the EFL have made the signing null and void for irregularities ? Could it be resurrected with CAFC getting a slapped wrist ?

Murphy wasn’t in post though? I’m not sure how he’s effect anything.

I personally don’t think the deal a dead duck yet .. but will be interesting if he involved in Reading squad at the weekend … this one is a shame cause he is an excellent player and would have pushed us safety into mid-table … but the club are the ones spending  the money and it has to right and if there an ounce of doubt then you have to walk away …

On Knibbs, if there was a medical issue, Hunt would hardly mention it because he will want £1.8m from someone else. It might be worth Rich speculating this to bring the price down, unless we are committed to walk away.

Or, something amiss as to Reading's ownership issues, are any monies due to the previously sanctioned Dai Yonnge and as such the transfer being in breech of league rules.

Putting aside the disappointment for a second this has been a brilliant few hours of CL/forums. We’ve had iron clad ITK’s become doubtful, a meltdown on the other forum, snipes between both, saw someone say not signing him means we’ve gone from guaranteed to staying up to being guaranteed to be in a relegation scrap, one poster with a conspiracy theory about the CEO they can’t let go, plenty of CL in jokes and it’s still only 3 o clock. Just need him to sign at 5 for it to be complete
    Well said Fenboy
