And if Jones and Chapple think so then that would give me even more confidence.
Great question and only QPR have the answer to that.

Watching the Chuks goal contribution on YouTube, I hadn't appreciated that Kelman scored both Wigan goals at the Valley,a couple of seasons ago.4

You couldn't lump the ball high in the sky for Carl, he needed the ball no more than chest high or on the floor.
You'll remember that Leaburn senior wasn't exactly a prolific scorer - but so much came through him, the perfect foil for a nippy poacher beside him.
Super Clive Mendonca once said that Carl Leaburn in that role was the best he had been paired with. Or something like that.
One difference between Miles and his Dad, Miles is more mobile, can get around the pitch, and able to run with the ball.
As you suggest, we should be playing to his strengths, rather than lumping the ball vaguely towards his head, just because he's a tall lad.2 -
jose said:In the early days of our return to the Valley around October 1995 I believe we had a 1-0 defeat to Grimsby Town. They had a player whose name you would see as a regular goalscorer playing. Clive Mendonca. He wasn’t eye catching in a speedy, or tricksy, or powerful way, but he lurked around and plugged away and scored that goal to secure the three points for Grimsby that day.
It is that memory Kelman reminds me of.
But Mendonca's 100% concentration, his reading of the game, anticipation and movement - and vitally, composure in front of goal, made him the great poacher he was.
Is that also what Kelman offers?4 -

Also has to be considered that we play a completely different style to Orient. He could lead the line for Orient in league 1 because of the way they play, he could not lead the line for us and the way we play. He is not Godden. If we signed him he’d fit the TC and Olaofe role, run into the channels and in behind, and score goals. He’d probably be an upgrade there, but if we’re spending £2m+ on a player I’d rather they filled a gap or upgraded an area we are weak in, rather than adding a 3rd player to a role we already have 2 good players in2 -
Don’t think we were really ever in for Kelman.16

Has Kelman actually signed for someone else, I know Luton and some mob in the USA were interested, but why not us?
I know @ForeverAddickted was keen if I remember correctly...🙄1 -

One thing I forgot to mention with Mendonca, was his superb 1st touch and mastery of the ball in tight situations in the box.
He could also drop a shoulder, swivel twist and turn.
Does Kelman offer that also, or am I expecting too much from a young player compared to a mature experienced Mendonca in his prime?
But the big question, as suggested by others, does Kelman fit NJ's gameplay and style of play?1 -

You may well be correct and since you started this thread on April 9th we have reached page 423 which isn't too shabby and compared to other years its been more enjoyable even if there's always has to be some padding out and tangential movement.
Maybe time for a new transfer rumour whether tenuous or substantial as Charlie Kelman and his Knibbs have had a good run.

Got a friend flying back from Kyoto airport this morning, told them to let me know if they see anybody who looks like Fukuda, to quote " I'm not being racist but I've seen about 30 people that look like him, What do you expect me to do, check passports or just be on lookout for someone dribbling through passport control?31

Let’s stop the comparisons of any forward here to Mendonca. They’re not in the same league as Super Clive.6

Kelman wouldn't gel in our current side, he might have in Curb's.1
