  • Birmingham has always been a nasty place to go, full of twats. I used to work near St Andrews ground, and people I worked with always looked forward to a scrap when at home, some of who were in their mid 40's upwards!
Yet on their own they're as nice as pie, get them as a group and they changed to loud mouthed twats, as I found our to my disgust. One minute I was talking football to one of them, then they were joined by 2 or 3 more in the canteen, and the dogs abuse I got was unbelievable! However on my own I didn't retaliate, I just smiled at them......that wound them up!
Birmingham is a shithole end. of!

Wife has family from Brum from her Irish side...nice as pie but they are all Villa....or Vile as Brum supporters would call them.

Here's a decent video from the home end, from BcfcBlock39. It is sweary and NSFW.

The guy seems obsessed with away fans, but they are quite complimentary overall, in that ours gave the best support and atmosphere they have seen this season, according to one or two. The interview with Steve around 20mins is funny. Then he shows the police providing a very tight escort to what appears our deemed risk element for the day, of about 50 young ones, presumably escorted towards the station.

The minor altercation in the our end is around 8mins 30 but no-one can be identified from this.

Anyone who had delays from New St can claim compensation. I have just had confirmation of the full 100% to be paid back.
  • Unfortunately the IRA/ anti IRA songs were exactly what started the altercation amongst our own fans, it happened right next to me.

It was a mum and daughter and the son we told him to stop singing kicked off a bit then the women accuse people of hitting them got kicked out in the end anyway
For those of us not there @drawnablank and @cazo what was said/sung and who got kicked out?
The usual song about 50p flutes.
That video starts after the initial reaction / altercation. Stewards came in and removed a few, police came up a fair few mins into it all which you can see in the vid.
All pretty ridiculous but unsurprising given some antics I’ve witnessed this season, the marching powder fuelled stairwell dwellers arrived 2 mins after kick off, were riled up 4 mins after kick off and got chucked out before 10 mins were played!
    Bizarre choices!
  • Pretty embarrassing kettling that

    50 Charlton 150 Police 😂
  • What a naff video, he was only there to watch us it seems...

Think it is the fourth time I have been to Birmingham away and every time they have 50-year fat bald blokes looking for trouble. They do seem to have a high percentage idiots ration than most.

To be fair though we had a lot more idiots looking for trouble out on Saturday than normal. Waiting on the platform at new street what seemed like two mates have a go at each other with what one getting a curry thrown at them and everyone else near. Ended up with about 30 old bill coming onto teh platform.

  • So we kicked off between ourselves singing nonsense songs that has feck all to do with us……..& one was a women with kids???

Have we time travelled back to the 70’s?

Weird innit. I haven't been away in a while, but back when I used to, I always felt there was a small contingent who test the waters to see what songs they can get away with, like they're trying to get a foothold of some kind.

  • Charlton fans singing pro-IRA songs? That’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever heard, surely not?

Sounds as though it was the standard 'when I was young' anti IRA one that someone took exception to.

    Ah, that’s ok then!

edit - joke, obviously, no one should be getting involved in another countries conflict at a Charlton match.
  • The year we won 4-3 live on TV ,Birmingham fans entered terrace area where we were.

All went off, just before end of game both inside and outside ground.  No police at ground and stewards didn’t help situation.

Believe coaches ( junior reds ) as well got attack.
Craig Norris Chairman of CASC took it up with West Midland police and Birmingham football club as i remember.

Once again walk to New Street with Norman
( Headphones) to some of you was an adventure.  Bloody Zulu,s.

Always been the same as long as I can remember.

I went up a down the country following Charlton away for the best part of 25 years. Never have had any interest in any agro, and never really experienced any except at Birmingham. The old man was spat on by a charming gentleman while walking back to our car (same match as the Junior Reds coach got bricked). We had covered up our colours but I guess they spotted a flash of red showing at one of our collars and that was enough for them. I think I was about 14, but a father and son minding their own business were deemed an acceptable target nonetheless.

I was also once wearing my Charlton shirt and queuing in McDonalds in Kidderminster (where I grew up) when two trainee scumbags young scallywags (probably about 12 years old, I was around 17) came up to me and started yelling "Cockney Scum get out of Brum".

As I mentioned earlier, I was acquainted with quite a few of their fans growing up and liked very few of them. Every club has its element of unpleasant fans looking for confrontation and trouble, but theirs has always been larger than average.

D'ya know what, in a masochistical way, I should think any of the Scum of Brum reading this will find it rather uplifting and self gratifying, like some sort of Badge of Honour...🙄
  • Millwall of the Midlands.

All that needs to be said.

"Cockney Scum get out of Brum" - does have a nice ring to it and, if truth be told, I couldn’t wait.
It's catchy. Ironic that when I had it sang to me I was neither a cockney or in "Brum", but that's the level of intelligence we're dealing with.

Yeah but we’re more like millwall than palace , salt of the earth and all that

Don’t put yourself down like that, you can be an honorary cockney scum!

Bloke does that on a lot of his vids, click bait nonsense.

I might just start punching my cousins in every vid and add 'Charlton fans fight' to the title to cause some excitement.

    Jay Stansfield injured...

I never said I wasn't scum. Just not cockney.
  • What a weird blog, spent the game videoing the Charlton fans then waited for the handful of blokes kettles by the police afterwards and followed them, videoing down the street.  No football coverage or analysis.  Bizarre.
Were his mates wearing tracksuits from Primark?

It really is quite pathetic, I've seen a few clips on you tube of various brummie games & that bunch in the corner ( mostly middle aged tough guys) seem to spend most of their time shaking coffee beans while shouting abuse at the away fans & paying no attention to the game. Very sad.  :#
  • for a crowd of 2000k ish always going to be a big day out.

as for pro ira songs anyone that sings that can expect a clump, brum is a shitpot of a place and thank fuck i dont live there.

on the walk to the ground had a fella walking next to us absolutely fine and then as soon as we peeled off to the away entrance started going mad and calling us cockney bastards.

been twice now wont rush back wrexham away if we are still in the hunt for playoffs if not probably me done for the season just dont enjoy it as much anymore.
  • I remember them coming into the covered end would of been 79-80 season, caused a bit of panic but were forced out. One of those things you remember as my mate lost his shoe in the mayhem.
  • Much prefer "The Vile", a much classier football club.
