  • This is disgusting and whether you like Birmingham or not, they are illustrating it is not who they are. It is worrying that there are people who feel empowered to do this in such a public place. Nothing to do with football but not good for society.
It's bad enough when it's aimed at players, but to racially abuse an opposition supporter is despicable.

And incredibly stupid as well, as with modern surveillance, you won't get away with it either.

Having watched a bunch of player interviews recently, I wonder that anyone in the dressing room understands what anyone else is saying...
    Eh?

    😉
is that Marjorie Dawes or Rachel Reeves ?

Sorry that we lost, but not devastated as we made them work bloody hard for it. We even had a period of dominance towards the end of the game after the subs.
Birmingham has a lot of good bars and pubs, went to a pub recommended by a mate. The Colmor tap, a Tnornbridge brewery pub  Had a good mild bitter in there and had a friendly chat with Walsall fans. Who were home that day.

I'll look out for that one in the summer when I'm up in Brum for a day at the test match. Just around the corner from The Wellington too.
Yes it is. The Wellington worth a visit as well.
    Enjoy the test.
  • To be fair it was a bit of a free hit ( i know some will shout theres no such thing), I didnt think we would get much from the game.
Like your drinking habits, what a load of rubbish.

In all honestly I am starting to have a poor opinion of Birmingham supporters. Quite like them when they are not in the vicinity of a football ground.

They are not really respectful online/or (as it appears) in the stadium as well.

They need to start taking lessons from their owner instead of constantly coming out with this.  (Maybe play this advert at the start of every home game)

I know it is not 'the club' but their fan base but if they are not careful they will be the Millwall of the North.

Again they need to act on this now especially when their owner is doing long adverts about how to be respectful towards others.

They are the Millwall of the Midlands and always have been.
    Perhaps you're not very old?

Christ, I remember the last game of the season in 1998 (just looked it up), when they all started coming onto the pitch at the end of the game to get at us and having no protection on the way out as they attacked us.

They even got on our double decker coach/bus as we fought them off and I recall Andy Church smacking one of them on the head with an iron bar as they were reaching the top deck.
Bricks were hitting the windows and a few psychos were even kicking the bus as we finally sped away at @25mph.

Regularly used to get aggro outside every time.

Dropped us back at Birmingham international instead of New Street for our own safety according to the local old bill when we departed the bus
Yes I remember being dropped off at Birmingham International, but couldn't for the life of me recall why as I know I didn't get a plane home.

The year we won 4-3 live on TV ,Birmingham fans entered terrace area where we were.

All went off, just before end of game both inside and outside ground.  No police at ground and stewards didn’t help situation.

Believe coaches ( junior reds ) as well got attack.
Craig Norris Chairman of CASC took it up with West Midland police and Birmingham football club as i remember.

Once again walk to New Street with Norman
( Headphones) to some of you was an adventure.  Bloody Zulu,s.

Always been the same as long as I can remember.

My wife was on one of those coaches which was full of families and they were all lying in the middle aisle of the coach as the windows were being bombarded. She was terrified.

I have in my head Birmingham were trialling no police attending games at the time. (Just looked up and this was Jan 1996)

Anyway, on Saturday I come across a number of Blues fans and treat as you find, they were all fine and I found the day a lot less intimidating than previous visits. I’m fairly sure a neutral would say it was us that had the liveliest fans and I suspect it was probably our highest arrest count at a game for a few years.

You know that thing when with a corner the ball is in the quadrant if even a tiny slither of the overhang of the globe is over the outside of the line, well AMB collected the ball when a tiny slither of it looked as if it was over the line of the penalty area.
The officials couldn’t be sure it wasn’t so couldn’t give handball.
Would like to see it again but it wasn’t featured in the highlights video.
It was almost a throw in !!!

I was at that game, they were literally waiting outside the turnstiles to attack Charlton fans.
The WMP apparantly had a dispute with Birmingham over an unpaid bill and thus the game was not policed.
I have got two good friends who support them and we always drink in Dibgeth and it's always been alright, certainly for the past ten years or so.   Having said that you have to be on your guard.
  • I must say that Birmingham treated us very well after we beat Leeds at St Andrews in '87.
  • I remember us playing them last game of the season early 90’s and it was a nothing game for us and they needed a result to stay up in the second tier and we lost 1-0 but Charlton fans there were celebrating cos palace got sent down at arsenal and I’m pretty sure Ian wright scored as well that day

Don’t know if our game kicked off late but I’m fairly sure Palace had conceded before our game had kicked off. 22k in St Andrews that day and was pretty intimidating with the big Kop making a right noise. I know we gave it to them a lot less than our lot were giving it on Saturday so we’ve definitely got braver!

Interestingly, just 25,200 at that Arsenal Palace game, which is bonkers considering the team Arsenal had

Remember in a localish pub after that game blues fans asking me why we were celebrating.

We'd left the ground sharpish as thought it safer to get away while they were all celebrating.

It must have been when the North Bank was knocked down, was there a mural of fans at the end behind the goal
  • I’ve just read that some Blues fans heard us singing pro IRA songs whilst we were fighting amongst ourselves?
    All very odd.
I have never heard us singing anything like that. Please tell me we haven’t started & that this eejit is talking sh1te?

Yep got saved by the OB the very first time I went up there (79-80) and that was after they beat us 1-0....back then the away section was about a third of the Tilton Road end.

Probably anti IRA chanting and he misheard.
    Either way it's uncalled for.

Unfortunately the IRA/ anti IRA songs were exactly what started the altercation amongst our own fans, it happened right next to me.
  • It was a mum and daughter and the son we told him to stop singing kicked off a bit then the women accuse people of hitting them got kicked out in the end anyway

The altercation can be seen on YouTube, i have not put the link on here.
  • Birmingham has always been a nasty place to go, full of twats. I used to work near St Andrews ground, and people I worked with always looked forward to a scrap when at home, some of who were in their mid 40's upwards!
Yet on their own they're as nice as pie, get them as a group and they changed to loud mouthed twats, as I found our to my disgust. One minute I was talking football to one of them, then they were joined by 2 or 3 more in the canteen, and the dogs abuse I got was unbelievable! However on my own I didn't retaliate, I just smiled at them......that wound them up!
Birmingham is a shithole end of!
