  • Just a warning Peterbro have not been beaten at the valley in last 6 visits … could be their lucky ground that form and league position don’t come into it .. like us at Fratton Park ?
In recent seasons they’ve been the better team with the better manager. That’s no longer the case. Payback time.

    Exactly.

This isn't one of those baffling runs of poor results, where rubbish opponents magically raise themselves just against us, as for many years Posh have had a series of decent sides, especially up front.

Which makes their poor form this season a major shock. Is it down to poor recruitment or Fergie Jnr losing his touch? Their January transfer business was pretty underwhelming too, and with Burton and Shrewsbury finding a bit of form, they're definitely in a relegation battle.

We must be getting close to the point where the crowd numbers and atmosphere step up to promotion chasing mode.Tomorrow night under the lights seems like a good time for it to happen.
I'm not expecting a big crowd. Miserable winter weather, and City vs Madrid in the Champions League is a tempting alternative for many.

and they had a free weekend when we had a tough physical game ….
Exactly the kind of record we only tend to buck if we are having a good season. Will be a good omen if we can get the win.
  • I strongly recommend Edun takes a Stugeron 15 before he gets off the away bus tomorrow evening as Small is going to run him around in circles for 90 mins.

I am not caring less about past performances and records, we are bang in form, they are not and we shouldn’t be at all complacent but can see us winning 3-0 if we are the ‘best versions of ourselves’ (not taking the piss it is a good turn of phrase).

    Really looking forward to it!
  • Think people may get a shock with Edun.
  • What when e dun't look as shit as we remember hin being?

You mean when he was playing in a worse side than we have now and what was definitely a worse side than he's joined.

He was never one of our worst players, just pretty standard League 1. He's no TS or KR, but he could still cause problems.

Took me a couple of minutes to work Edun into a contrived gag. Wish i hadnt bothered now.
  • 3-0 and the Harte continues.
  • Very nervous about this one. I smell a disappointing 1-1.
Our current form is too good to be true.
  • 2-1. Predicting a nervy display with us bagging the winner close to the end of the ninety minutes or in extra time.
  • Rotherham was just a few weeks ago ….just saying. How many times have we turned up at the valley expecting a win (like we will tonight) only to be thoroughly disappointed by performance and result. Its the first goal that usually determines the outcome (for us anyway…..until that time its anyone’s game.

Crawley at home has taught me not to get complacent with Charlton.

However, I really hope we can get a win tonight, a clean sheet would also be an added bonus.

The team was still in its weekly mix and match phase when we played them that day and had the weaknesses that come with that approach:

  • Edun is quick and certainly not as bad as some are saying
He may be quick but was a dreadful defender. Gave his man far too much room to either get past or put a cross in. No doubt he'll raise his game against us but doubt he's had a miraculous transformation.

It’s easy, and lazy, to find fault with players in a disjointed and unsettled team that hasn’t built up a collective understanding but Edun was a player that I always thought promised a lot more but also seems to switch off too often. My preference after a while was for him not to be on the pitch if I’m honest. Given who he is going to be up against I suspect he won’t have much time to switch off so could well have a much better game tonight, though we do attack down both wings so maybe not.
  • Posh will come to spoil and try and get at least a point. They’re as desperate for points as we are. I think we’ll huff and puff but these games are difficult and can go either way. It’ll be close.
  • Don't want to be harsh on him because I genuinely did quite like him but Small will absolutely ruin Edun tonight
  • No Dixon or Enslin with the u21s in their friendly this morning, so they could be with the first team squad.

A team with zero width, pace or creativity .  Not a surprise we lost .
  • Looking at play off rivals tonight.

Orient are likely to pick up 3 points tonight, what with their form and fact Mansfield have lost 5 in a row.

Reading are in bad form with Shrewsbury starting to pick up points recently, so hopefully dropped points for Reading.

Stockport the form team in league and doubtful Bristol can grab anything.
  • It's uncanny how, sometimes, how fixtures work out. We play nine matches in 38 days (between 25th January and 4th March) with six of those at home and one of the three away games being in London (Orient). It really is the exactly the right time for the team to find their form and go on a run!
  • I was off work yesterday and was really confused as to why we were playing on Monday Night.
