Far fewer places open there now than there used to be. Post pandemic I guess.bolloxbolder said:

I worked over there 2017/18 and used to walk down Brick Lane more or less every day. At the time it almost seemed a new non-Bangladeshi place would open up every week as the place got more and more trendy. I haven’t been down there since but it wouldn’t surprise me if there were no curry houses left in BL. TBH, the ones that were still there the time weren’t a patch on the places in Tooting then and, coincidentally, Tooting is where I’m actually headed tonight. I also remember Tooting as the place where the Bangladeshi and Pakistani guys from over there used to say they head to for a family treat.valleynick66 said:

The twenty to two train to Tooting tootled tunefully as it tore through the tunnel.0

I lived in Tooting for 5 years and tried so few of the restaurants because the ones I did try were so good, I just kept going back.letthegoodtimesroll said:

Our local was the Shalamar in Brick Lane, a wonderful Bangladeshi cafe. I'd hate to go back now 20 odd years later and see how the place has been commercialised in the ensuing years, there were already more "formulaic" eateries opening up then.0

The only restaurant I remember most in Tooting is that massive Chicken Cottage. I've seen some Sainsburys locals smaller than it.0

When you went there did you make it A Night To Remember?soapy_jones said:Our local was the Shalamar in Brick Lane, a wonderful Bangladeshi cafe. Is it right to assume DLR between Woolwich and Bank will run that day? Can change then at Canning Town at least to get to Stratford for the Central Line.clive said:A strike has been called by ASLEF that will mean no Elizabeth Line trains will run on this day, also due to planned engineering work there will be no service on the DLR from Woolwich Arsenal.

Or, all down to N Greenwich for the Jubilee Line to Stratford instead.THIS WEEK END TRAVEL DISTRUPTIONS MAKE SURE YOU CHECK TFL UPDATESDOCKLANDS LIGHT RAILWAY: Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 March, no service between Poplar / Stratford International and Beckton / Woolwich Arsenal. Use ELIZABETH LINE services between Custom House and Woolwich where available, however, these may be affected by industrial action on Saturday 1 March. Replacement buses operate.1 -
Travel update
Planned strikes by train drivers on London's Elizabeth line on Thursday and Saturday have been called off following a new pay offer.
