For all that Tongue has taken wickets in this series, most have been mopping up the tail and I'm really not sure that we can afford to take him to Australia.
The rain saves us because we really shouldn't be happy with 72-2 in these conditions. You have to make them play and too many balls have been wasted by a couple of our bowlers having no line and length whatsoever.
Gonna go early and say this Overton selection might be the worst I've ever seen
Don't get it at international level with him at all. Why he's playing over giving Sam Cook another go is anyone's guess.
75mph Sam? Neither should be playing . Potts should consider himself unlucky .
Cook's more like 80mph and these conditions would have been ideal for him. You don't take 327 wickets at 20.45 with an economy rate of 2.67 without having the ability to have the ball on a string. Anderson was that pace at the end of his career.
The reason I suspect that he hasn't been picked is that they see no long term future in playing him, specifically with the Ashes in mind, although the same can be said of Overton who doesn't have anywhere near the record of Cook in the CC.
This is where it gets frustrating when you're at a game, as one heavy shower effectively means a 2 hour delay. And you just know that as soon as the players return, it'll start raining again.

Surprise surprise, spits of rain and the covers are back on
Fun piece on Sean Longstaff playing cricket in the off season , think there's a quite a few examples of pro footballers turning out for cricket clubs , didn't Alfie May when he was with us and I believe Tariq Holmes-Dennis plays too?

Alfie May used to play for Farningham CC. He says cricket is his favourite sport.

I know the Neville brothers and Joe Hart are always brought up as footballers that were also incredibly talented junior cricketers who had to make the choice but it's interesting to see how many others there are.

Steve Gritt, Derek Hales and Colin Powell were all good cricketers

When Nathan Baxter was in the Kent Academy he made the decision to concentrate on football at Chelsea and is now at Watford. Ben Earl, the England rugby player, was in the same Kent age group side as Zak Crawley and Marcus O'Riordan.
Conversely, Adam Ball was in the same age group side as Harry Kane and Chuks Aneke at Arsenal as a kid.

Mike Gatting was a reasonable footballer. His brother of course played for us.
Joe Gatting, Steve's son and Mike's nephew, played for Brighton before switching to cricket for Sussex. He spends half the year in Australia playing and coaching - Seb played against him a couple of years ago in Adelaide.
