Will probably end up being just another T20 comp when the Sky deal comes up. I just can't be bothered with a competition that doesn't attract the big overseas stars because they all go to the MLC instead. End up with overseas players I can watch in the Blast anyway.
We should have won and the Laws do need amending with clear definitions of "like for like". That said, with the squad that we had out there, who would we have brought in had Ben Duckett, for example, been injured after scoring 50? The obvious replacement is Smith but he's injured so we would then have had to choose between a spinner, Rehan Ahmed or one of the seamers, Gus Atkinson or Mark Wood. What happens when that person picks up three wickets given that the touring side has a clear advantage by virtue of their limited squad?
As I say, the substitution is pure deflection. We played some awful cricket when in a position to win the game with the real irony being that we can't play spin and yet the substitute player is a seamer making his debut who picks up three wickets. Could it just be that we didn't show him the respect he deserved?
Once upon a time, the England cricket team took 14 players and barely more than the coach and a physio as support staff down under for the Ashes. The current Lions tour has 16 players plus 14 backroom staff

And they get fuckin gubbed. What a lovely gravy train it is though
England win the toss and will field. Wood comes back in for Mahmood. The latter must consider himself incredibly unlucky. There again, he isn't one of the 29 centrally contracted players whereas all the other players in the squad are.
Buttler refers to the four being left out as "impact subs". I wonder what he could be referring to!!!
Dropping Saqib is absolutely mad. Surprised they're not managing Archers game time more.
McCullum has come out and said that they are not going to wrap Wood or Archer in cotton wool anymore. Presumably this is with a view to the Champions Trophy coming up and then the Ashes in mind. Let's face it, if they were to play in the IPL their respective teams wouldn't do so but it is still awful to drop Saqib as it does send the wrong message to him and Archer and Wood could both have missed a game.

I'm just waiting for him to break down , it feels inevitable that they'll play him straight through the CT and then he'll go and get injured in the IPL.
Saqib always impresses when he gets the chance and he's done very well to fight back from multiple back injuries. Would have him in the CT side.

These sort of deals probably means that it's here to stay.
I still won't watch it though.

C'mon that's gotta be worth a giggle.
