Perhaps this is the reason for the difference in attacks I've mentioned. Apart from Adil Rashid (10 overs) Liam Livingstone (4 overs), we are almost exclusively bowling our quicks because we know that the Indian batsmen aren't as confident facing them whereas the Indians are playing five spinners because ours are so poor against spin. The experiment with Konstas didn't last too long with, for the 1st Test against Sri Lanka. Travis Head moved to the top of the order and Josh Inglis brought in for his Test debut. Australia are currently 269-2 (66) - Khawaja 123* (173), Head 57 (40), Labuschagne 20 (50), Smith 68* (134)
The Aussies, unsurprisingly, are playing just the one out and out seamer (Starc) with three front line spinners in Lyon, Kuhnemann and Murphy plus part-timers in the shape of Head, Labuschagne and Smith. Labuschagne does a "party piece" of bowling seam up too but the all rounder, in the truest sense, is Beau Webster. As well as being a 6' 7'' hard hitting middle order batter, he was probably, at the start of his career, the tallest professional off spinner. He then converted to bowl medium pace and is in this side as the second seamer to Starc or an extra spinner if required.0 -

Think Konstas will be straight back in opening once they leave Asia. They’ve said since they toured India that Head would open next time they toured in Asia so hard to row back from that. He wouldn’t be a natural opener in England/Aus/SA0

Days 1-4 of the WTC Final sold out in under 90 minutes today, which feels dodgy. Am I right in thinking that's fishy (bots/touts) or have I underestimated its popularity? England-India wasn't that popular. I didn't even get to see ticket prices.Day 5 wasn't for sale so I'll see about that nearer the time.0

If they do move Head (57 off 40) back down to 5 to accommodate Konstas then Carey now becomes vulnerable given that Inglis, on his debut, has just made 102 off 94 balls. Of those teams. Seb played against Brendan Doggett and Jordan Buckingham and also England's Dillon Pennington when playing club cricket in Australia. He was also introduced to Josh Phillipe in a bar in Australia by David Moody (who he had played against in the Kent League as he was Beckenham's overseas). The perception might be that the Aussies aren't very friendly to "Poms" but Seb assures me that the phrase "you fxxxxxx cxxx" becomes a term of endearment once off the field as it is usually prefaced with "how you doing" at that point!!!3 -

Australia women are 220-3 in reply to England's 170. 23 year-old Annabel Sutherland, sister of men's international, Will, is on 107* (198). This is her third Test century in her only nine innings to date.
However, things might have been so different but for England's fielding woes which have reared their ugly head once again with another half a dozen drops.2 -
If the England women could take their catches the Aussie's would be 7 wickets down and not 3 down.
The English fielding has been shocking compared to the fitter opposition.
As a supporter of Women's sport in general inspired by my daughter who played many sports when younger and still runs miles most days fitting it in with her busy 'no business like show business career' I'm amazed how the Aussie women are mainly better athletes as well.
In the last series between the two sides the English Women hit back hard but the gap between the two teams now is massive.
With bat, ball, fielding and mentality Australia are now streets ahead in all formats of the game.

Aussie's now 324 for 4 after 24 year old Sutherland bowled for 163 after being dropped on 20 and Mooney 60 not out after being dropped on 14 🤦🏻♀️

England's women team are a shambles. The catching is honestly worse than school boy level, and how can Ecclestone be in that kind of shape as a professional? If they want to be taken seriously, they need to start with taking it seriously themselves0

I'm not sure they've upped them that much but we have become complacent. Aussies are definitely bouncing back from a disappointing WC but we also had a disappointing WC and seem to have just wallowed in it. The drops are poor but so is general fielding. I haven't seen any of today's play but yesterday I saw multiple balls slip past fielders that should have been stopped easily. Seb coaches cricket on the Kent regional pathway but also at various clubs and also cricket, as well as other sports, at a school. What the school has tried to do is to introduce cricket to both boys but particularly girls that might otherwise not be involved in the sport. That is a the biggest key for the future of England women's cricket because you then get athletic girls involved and progressing in the game that might otherwise pursue hockey for example.
A lot of those that have previously come through the England system are the daughters of blokes that played club cricket but that might not have had that inherent athleticism. Australia automatically do that which is why you see some that play two sports at the top level such as the likes of Elyse Perry (cricket, football), Ash Barty (tennis, cricket), Jessica Cameron (cricket, AFL), Ayssa Healy (cricket, hockey), Meg Lanning (cricket, hockey), Emma Kearney (cricket, AFL), Kirsty Lamb (AFL, cricket) and Ellyse Villani (cricket, AFL).
