The legside trap has been set for Brook. He's still going to take it on because that's the way he plays.
Brain dead cricket from Carse who does take it on and is comfortably caught.

Australia averaging a wicket every 24 balls. We are criminally bad.

A depressingly predictable position to wake up to

They say the wicket is best for batting on days 2 & 3. Shame we will get to bat on days 1& 4.

Wake up to see Carse caught in the deep, and Smith slogging every ball and also caught in the deep FFS.

Brain dead tactics with the big boundaries.

Anything Carse can do so can Smith. They have five out on a big ground and we're taking it on. In Smith's defence he's stuck between a rock and a hard place with Archer at the other end and just Wood to come.

England collapsed so quickly that Usman Khawaja is unable to open the batting because of time spent off the field
  • I got up at 3.30 for this

7-58  for Starc, his best ever Test figures. He's bowled less than 13 overs too. Let's hope he doesn't get to put his feet up for two days now.

Or you try and milk the strike and find the massive gaps in the outfield. E.g. hooking downwards for example

    Fuck me.

    Same old same old.

    All out by tea ????
All out AN HOUR before tea.
  • For those that are interested, my eldest (the sports trader and not the player/coach) thinks that Starc at 12/1 to be crowned the Player of the Series (Compton-Miller Medal) is a bit of value. He's almost certain, bar injury, to play four of the five Tests and if the ball does dominate the Series then he has to have every chance of being not just the top wicket taker for both sides but picking up this award too.

    POTS best prices:

    Smith (S) - 15/2
    Root - 8/1
    Brook - 10/1
    Stokes - 11/1
    Starc - 12/1
    Khawaja - 14/1
    Head - 14/1
    Duckett - 14/1
    Labuschagne - 16/1
    Boland - 16/1
    Lyon - 16/1
    Archer - 18/1
    Crawley - 20/1
    Green - 22/1
    Hazlewood - 22/1
    Atkinson - 25/1
    Cummins - 25/1
    Weatherald - 25/1
    Smith (J) - 28/1
    Pope - 28/1
    Carey - 33/1
    Carse - 33/1
    Wood - 33/1
    Tongue - 50/1
    Bethell - 50/1
    Webster - 50/1
    Bashir - 66/1
    Abbott - 80/1
    Jacks - 80/1
    Potts - 80/1
    Inglis - 100/1

    7 for 58… great shout!

Last 5 wickets went for 12 runs in 3 overs.

We were making a fist of it at 160/5. Could & maybe should have got 250+.

All over inside 3 days ?

When have we ever done that under Bazball? Who could forget when, Lyon injured himself and we kept taking on the short ball because "that's the way we play"!!!

There are still 55 overs left in the day. Will probably only get 40 of those in.

I'm predicting the Aussies will be 164/4  at the close.

Anything Starc can do, Archer can, hopefully, do too.
