Great finish. Nice to see Joey in form in this format after some good knocks in red ball this year.

However, the Sussex YouTube feed had some infiriatingly times adverts. Not noticed it on other blast streams so either a new initiative or a Sussex things. Very annoying
Never noticed that many ads on the Sussex stream bar during the innings break etc. I have noticed YouTube itself getting very ad heavy though.

Interesting lineup, no Parky and 6 overs of spin between Joe Denly and Leaning, presumably to lengthen the batting. Evison was batting at No 8, which worked brilliantly as it happened, but seems very low.

    No Agar either

Was at the match supporting the sharks. Interesting Kent team coach 😁
Did the Sussex players arrive on a Leyton Orient coach?

It would be embarrassing not to pick them if you're playing at Beckenham  :D

Interesting that Kent refer to him as "wicketkeeper-batter". I'm not sure that he will be doing a lot of keeping in his career for two reasons - he doesn't get to keep much in the games he plays in, he's a destructive opening batter and he's probably 6' 4'' plus tall so fails the height test on that count alone!

Good luck Ben and looking forward to seeing the three young guns in the 50 over comp.

AA - how strong are Kent likely to go in the ODC? Is it something that Hollioake is prioritising as maybe a bit of silverware with a few depleted sides or is it a change to give a chance to the younger players?

Very excited to see how ben dawkins develops. Only seen him a couple of times and more extensively the other day for England but he massively favours playing his shots on the off side.

In theory we have a core of talented/ highly rated batters (denly,Dawkins,Singh) which offer us supporters a tiny bit of hope for the county going forward, with the Sussex approach of persevering with youngsters getting my full support going forward.

Unfortunately the Same can’t be said for the bowling said of things, the lack of talent coming through has always been an issue for aslong as I can remember and it seems to remain the same for a while to come

The Sussex approach has certainly had its painful years - the Ian Salisbury and James Kirtley split head coaches debacle and the loss of Ali Orr to Hampshire was the nadir for Sussex but we're finally starting to see the fruits of throwing in players at 16-18 and letting them learn. What I will say is that experienced domestic signings like John Simpson have been a massive plus as has nailing our overseas signings with Seales,Hughes and McAndrew.

I'm not absolutely sure who has been called up for that "thing" that is going on at the same time although one suspects that the likes of Billings, Muyeye and DBD are likely candidates to be missing. There's also the question mark as to whether Compton will get an opening berth this year but they will start with probably two from Jaydn, Ekansh and Dawkins and will look to give all three game time together if it looks early on that we aren't going to progress.

Great start tonight - Muyeye and Finch out for one run between them. There was worse news beforehand with DBD and Rogers both out injured. Matt Henry misses the game for Somerset and Banton has gone off having injured himself keeping.

He’s a nice guy but I’m just not having Harry Finch opening the batting for Kent.

Seriously, what is going on down there?

Leaning owes us that asterisk with something that says strike rate 150+.

Off because of the sun in the batters eyeline (again).

I was at a game against Sussex about this time 10 years ago and this was happening.

It’s so sad but KCCC is a complete shambles at the moment.

Lancashire getting absolutely battered in the televised game. Great innings from Bairstow.

One of the great Blast innings from Bairstow. Luxton at the other end looks a real talent too.

Jake Ball playing for Somerset today, one of a long list of loan players who've come and gone without much impact.
