Away from Kent there’s major controversy in the Essex v Worcestershire game as Jamie Porter seemed to ground the ball on his c&b final wicket of the game

Gloucs batted for far to long. Leaving us over 400 off 40 overs when they can have as many as they like on the boundary, if things started to get away from them, wasn't much of an invitation anyway.
Yes, we got out of jail because of their cautious declaration.

Garrett has bowled 17 overs in the 2s match and has taken 3-62 so far in the game so seems well on his way to recovery. Cohen, on the other hand, bowled just 5 overs in the first innings and not done so since.

One name to watch out for - an Academy lad called Rajan Sian who is making his 2s debut today. He was selected for the prestigious Bunbury Festival last season (for those that aren't aware, this is a tournament for the highest rated up and coming 15 year olds in the country and one which a lot of the current England team would have previously taken part in) and is a quick bowler with plenty of potential. His figures to date are 14.3-0-63-3 which for a raw 15/16 year old is quite commendable.

Interestingly SACA have two sides playing currently - one against Kent and the other, containing two of our former players, Arafat Bhuiyan and Hamidullah Qadri against Worcs 2s.

In our game, Kent, chasing 293 to win, have just lost their first wicket with the score on 149 (Harby for 70). Ekansh is currently on 71*

The Tier 1 One-day 50 over cup starts tomorrow with Kent's out ground, Beckenham, hosting Surrey v Somerset. Of course it is. With, potentially, anything up to eight players that came through the Kent age group system representing Surrey.

That shows how much Slurrey take the p155.

First they take our players, now they're after our grounds.

They'll be nicking a lime tree to plant at The Oval next.

The current Lancs 2nd XI v Yorkshire 2nd XI features former Kent man, Matt Milnes (8-4-14-4), for Yorkshire and Adnan Mikhael, who was the asylum seeker in Freddie Flintoff's Field Of Dreams documentary, making his debut for Lancs 2s. Adnan came in at 10 and scored 25* (31) out of a total of 159 and then returned figures of 13-2-72-2 as Yorks plundered the Lancs attack for 622-7. I say "attack" but it seems that Lancs opted for the "throw as many as possible against the wall" in utilising no less than 12 bowlers with captain and wicket keeper, George Bell, even taking off his pads to bowl an over!

For once the Kent injury curse only really affected Milnes after he left Kent.

You can take the boy out of Kent, but you can't take the Kent out of the boy...

Anyone off to Lord's tomorrow to watch super Kent?

9 of us going and we're most likely be sitting in the upper tier of the Edrich Stand.

The Fanackapans will be there as guests of a Middx Board member so lunch then presumably in the "posh seats".

Hope they won't mind my cheering when our lads hit a 6 or take a wicket  B)

The signing of Richards suggests that he is a straight replacement for Stewart who was injured in the last match. The squad will, according to Kent's review, be announced "in due course". One suspects that as the squad will probably be boarding their coach to their hotel shortly so, hopefully, this announcement will come soon enough.

Two hours to the toss and still no squad announcement. Never let it be said that communication isn't a strength of ours.

So, out go the injured, Finch (finger), Stewart (abdomen), Jas (ankle) and Gilchrist (concussion). Jaydn is ill, Joe (arm), O'Riordan (back) and Quinn (hamstring) are all out too. Cohen is still building up his fitness and Flintoff is working on his bowling. In come Parkinson, Benjamin, Garrett, Richards, Parkinson and Ekansh with the last named, presumably, the one to take on 12th man duties.

So, if we add Dudgeon to that lot, that's 11 players unavailable for one reason or another. A whole team!

Have Kent inherited the Charlton injury curse? That's a ridiculous amount of players to have out this early in the season. Surprised Richards is the only loan signing ATM.

To be fair they were probably still trying to find 11 fit players. With our injury record, it wouldn't have been a surprise if we lost a bowler to a freak "brushing his teeth" injury this morning.

The much loved late and great Alan Igglesden missed a game once through tripping over the boundary rope as Kent took the field at the start.

A bit surprised that Richards is down to bat at 10. Kashif Ali might have scored 34* in his last innings but his previous 10 scores were 17, 0, 6*, 2*, 0, 0, 0, 1 & 0

David Fulton has revealed, in commentary, that he has been working with the Kent batters in between his media duties. On the Kent website, Toby Roland's name doesn't appear - he was the batting "consultant" last season so, perhaps, the two have parted ways.

Not facing 85mph bowling he hasn't. That said, it was as a result of being hit in the eye, in a freak accident when wearing a helmet in practice, that Fulton's career was, effectively ended.

Blimey - talk about having the playing strip on one end of the square! It looks, from limited footage, as if it's a chip one side and a "run five" the other!
