And has Tom Kohler-Cadmore bowled with a beauty with his very first ball in the competition. As the commentator put it "What a start for the youngster". Good research.0

Ben Dawkins is in the England squad for the U19s WC4

Chris Swadkin, whom I'm sure a few will know on here, the former Kent President, England Over 50s, 60s and 70s captain, Chairman of the Kent Cricket Board, Deputy Chair of the Kent League, Development Officer for Greenwich District and Blackheath stalwart for probably 50 years plus. has been awarded an MBE in the New Year's Honours List for his services to Cricket and Young People in the South East.
In an era when such awards appear to be handed out like confetti to individuals in team sports, no one can deny that Swadders isn't a deserving recipient.7 -
Deserved. Well done.0

Three years ago, a fast bowling all rounder played for Bromley in the second tier of the Kent Cricket League. His name is Jack Edwards and during the same season, his older brother, Mickey, was at St Lawrence & Highland Court and Mickey also played a few games for Kent 2s whilst here. Mickey actually secured a contract with Yorkshire but has been forced to retire prematurely due to a recurring foot injury.
Jack is currently the leading wicket taker in the Big Bash, captains New South Wales in the Sheffield Shield and has a contract with the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. Moises Henriques, his skipper at the Sydney Sixers, says his potential is limitless and that he hasn't shown yet what he is capable of with the bat.
Still only 25 and providing the ECB don't implement their proposed ban on Aussies playing in the CC, he is exactly the right type of overseas player we should be targeting. He isn't yet so high profile (not in the Australian red or white ball squads) that he can demand silly money so, hopefully, he would be within our budget. Equally, having experienced that season here it's not as if he won't know what to expect.2 -
Finch given a new 2 year deal2

When Bromley played St Lawrence, I gave Jack out LBW to his brother Mickey! Well beaten for pace! Nice bloke Jack was though...Addick Addict said:Three years ago, a fast bowling all rounder played for Bromley in the second tier of the Kent Cricket League. Spoke to Jack on the boundary when Seb played against Bromley in a T20. He hit 30 off 14 balls including a couple of massive sixes and returned 0-34 off his 4 overs.Pedro45 said:

That was three years ago when he was just 22 and his progress since then has been massive. He is top wicket taker in the Big Bash with 14 wickets at 13.50, a strike rate of 11.14 and an economy rate of 7.26. By all four measures he is right up there and better than all the current and former England players playing in the competition such as Jamie Overton, Luke Wood, Chris Jordan, Tom Curran and Reece Topley. He is a bowling all rounder but someone who could easily bat at 7 in red or white ball. In fact, he's averaging 30.66 at a strike rate of 180.39 although that stat is based on scoring 92 runs for three times out.
Jack has played for Australia A and has an IPL contract which demonstrates his potential. He is one that I'm sure the Australian Cricket Board would love to see him get experience in English conditions as his brother did. I don't think he would cost the earth either and will also know a few of the Kent lads already.
One thing I completely forgot about, until now, is that his brother, Mickey, signed for Yorkshire as a regulation 2 county qualified player because he holds a British passport. Assuming Jack is in the same position he wouldn't even be taking up one of our two overseas options albeit that signing three non-UK players at the same time might be beyond our budget.1
