Genuine question but did anyone within the supporter base know Gavin Carter or seen him at a game before he appeared on Twitter defending Sandgaard junior?
Just curious to know how someone who the club puts out as 'lifelong supporter' and yet I have not come across anyone who remembers seeing or going to games with him from years gone by.
Varney, Simmons, Bobe and White were very known/seen as supporters before they officially got involved with the club.
I’ve thought the same since he was first announced. I expect he was more likely a West Stand home fan, that rarely went away (pure speculation based on the fact not one person have said they recognize him).
I was right then.
You were at the Bromley Addicks thing when he literally said he sat in the West Stand. Hardly breaking news. 🤣
I would suggest it was the Spivs who smashed the club infrastructure up, if you look at the long list of long-serving employees who left during and as a result of their tenure. No doubt Katrien and Ssndgaard contributed further damage and failed to put it right, but it’s been a basket case of an organisation for over a decade.
Depressing, the current dismal team is but a speck of dust in a vast expanse of mismanaged time. It's almost beyond human comprehension.

Wouldn't disagree at all
I thought some on here said the infrastructure / back of house stuff was already fixed / in course of being fixed and that’s why we should be hopeful about the future?
Either things are being fixed where needed or it’s still an Elastoplast approach.

We have people in key positions now eg Finance director, CEO, director of football, who are not unskilled relatives of the owner or Tony Keohane.
Whether those current post holders eg those named on a similar thread are up to the task is the question.

I'll have you know that Keohane is held in high regard by those that know him and everyone else is wrong! 😉

But potentially are just acquaintances of each other and not obviously found their positions after a rigorous selection process.
To me doesn’t prove infrastructure is improved. But I’m happy to be told more behind the scenes stuff is changing.

Did you read the next paragraph?
Andy Scott is by any measure more experienced and qualified than Martin Sandgaard, ditto Rodwell/Methven than Realynn Malony.
Does that make them suitable for the roles they are in? Not from what we are seeinng from the outside.

I had heard about this but never seen it. Pisses me off more than it should probably, but Keohane employed security who had young Charlton staff up against a fence and also took other fans to court iirc. For Rodwell to send a message like that around shows an enormous lack of judgment in my opinion.
The shite transfer business with him having a football related role is another show of his judgment.
And finally, he was the one in the summer waxing lyrical about the new pitch!!!

Bin him off.
Was that game against a fence incident against Coventry or is my memory playing tricks on me?

I mean, he couldn’t even be arsed to take the speech marks off whoever in HR he copy and pasted from.
That’s as vanilla HR speak as you’ll ever read, not a ringing endorsement.
It’s pleasing that stuff is going on behind the scenes that fans are not necessarily aware of. Becoming a well run club again is no small task after the last ten years or so. Good to see some ambition being mentioned too. Of course where we need to see improvement is with the first team. Get that right and everything else becomes slightly easier. As always. Time will tell.
I find myself agreeing with Methven about the importance of and the desire to strengthen the academy. I am mindful of Miere saying the stuff about developing players for the future at other clubs, notably in the Premier League. So in the case of Miles Leaburn right now. The ownership should ensure we get promoted this season (Gassan Ahadme? Alan Campbell? Potts? Hylton?) so Miles stays with us on a longer and improved contract in the Championship, or at that point he is very reluctantly sold to a Premiership club for a shedload of money. The waters are muddied somewhat by the deployment of Nathan Asimwe who in my mind could have featured more.

What this fan is aware of is a failure to do basic things - closed and therefore inadequate matchday toilets, out of date and poorly targeted in-house advertising around the stadium, a matchday programme stuffed with a very high percentage of adverts and lazy editorial (buy your half season ticket for the remaining 14 games when only 12 remain), not putting on a coach by default to a third round FA Cup tie, but starting “a waiting list” like some minor non-league club. That’s just from casual observation. An audit would no doubt come up with a lot more.
Small things, maybe, and of course not what most fans care about, but indicative of a lack of care and attention to detail among the people in charge. That’s not how you create a successful business. Hard to believe it only applies away from the football as it’s about culture.

I'm with you on this, when I ran and visited distribution centres my first visit would be to the washrooms...... yes, for the necessary after a long trip but the state of them told me a lot about how much the people running them cared about the facilities and their staff. If they were bad, after they were cleaned up, perhaps renovated and kept clean regularly, the staff did respond by not allowing them to get disgusting any more. We also paid attention to decent and up to date signage, notices, communications etc. It all helps create the culture you want but it takes time, effort, attention to detail and flipping diligent operations management. Another example, fwiw, according to the App the women's stadium is at The Oakwood in Dartford?
Ok sorry, but you got me started ......... apologies to whoever lost a minute of their life reading this, unfortunately I can't give it you back.
