AB makes very valid observations and you have to wonder why the management team havnt got a handle on the basics. Perhaps there’s an element of Bertie big bollox syndrome.
Laziness and slack attitudes. Not professional at all.
My company used to carry out a lot of work at The Valley before Roland arrived all supervised by the in house facilities team who we reported too.
That soon changed and it all went downhill including us having to threaten court action to get our invoices paid. The facilities team were broken up or laid off and responsibility was handed over to a young, inexperienced person.
I am not surprised at any of the above if the facilities are still being run the same way
Functioning and hygienic toilets and having running water seem to be a fair way to measure how well or otherwise an organisation is being run.
I’m sure that the ground still being owned by Roland is not helping matters, though if the club actually owned the Valley it would be as responsible for the maintenance of the stadium and facilities as it is now.
Seems to me that getting these basics right is actually the easy bit - far easier to ensure your toilets/turnstiles are all working than it is to put together a promotion challenging football team. It doesn’t say much about the professionalism of those currently in charge if facilities and signage are not working / incorrect.
What does it actually cost to replace or remove this large ad on the AC concourse, which has the wrong price on it from last season (eight months later)? The club increased the VEX price to £16 in the summer, which was foolish of itself IMO, but why would you leave the old price on display to illustrate the hike? Only one reason, because nobody is paying attention or thinks that it matters enough to do anything about it.
i accept it isn’t important to the fans on the concourse and that the impact of advertising VEX here is insignificant in any event, but it’s indicative of the management culture.
Similarly, why would you publish out of date material lifted from the internet in the paid-for club programme? What is the cost of updating it?

In case Mr Carter was to check in to this thread... One of the two turnstiles for the family stand broke about 3 games ago. They now have a steward outside telling people that use it they need to scan and then be super quick to push through or it locks on them. The oldest person in my party is 79. You can imagine how effective that method is.
I've always said that the family stand should have manned turnstiles as it would make things quicker, we've gone from having turnstile 3 not working for the last few years and now that's been fixed turnstile 2 is out of operation.
I agree there are some basic things that need addressing- the increasingly dilapidated state of the stadium is a concern - who is responsible under the lease for maintenance - could be either the current ownership or Roland ?
Also I tried to get hold of someone in hospitality to spend money all over the Xmas break inc before and after the Cambridge game and they only responded to me on the morning of the Wycombe game. Considering how many chiefs we have you’d think they’d have this covered in years gone by Roger Alwen’s wife - Heather would answer the phone herself and sell you something!
More recently than that, Peter Varney would often directly reply.
