Fed up with all this formation bollocks 4231 433 5321 ect just get 2 fucking wingers that can work up and down the pitch like newton and Robinson did 442. Fuck what everyone else does and them that say you can’t play that anymore. I don’t care if we lose we’re fucking losing now least we might get some fucking entertainment.
I didn’t post last night I wanted to calm down before I did.fuckin shit keep saying I’m not bothered to myself but trouble is I am.
We got 2 six foot centre forwards and were lumping it up the middle to them. Give us some width and give them some fucking crosses.
Outplayed by Crawley it’s a fucking nightmare supporting us nowadays.
You don't even need "wingers" per se. I know this is Premier but Liverpool use every blade of grass in and around their opponents box including out wide and unless you are going to call Mo Salah, Diaz, Gakpo, Nunez etc wingers; they are not but can all cross the ball from wide positions when they interchange.
Even at the low level of League 1 you just need players who can play wide or central during a match,(Taylor and Grant were good examples of this)
I didn't know the team until they KO last night but when I saw the 3 slow Central forwards were chosen together again I knew Nathan Jones learnt nothing after he tried this before. I have never written Negative words from KO before but last night was the final straw as it was patiently obvious we would struggle and we made a poor Crawley side look good.
Nearest thing I have seen to full agreement on CL with the Opprobrium.
NJ keep saying we need to be more consistant, when he as a manager choosing formaitons and teams is the most inconsistant thing happening. Im just fucking confused and bored now.
Sadly, we'll also be returning our Crawley matchday tickets as I'll be still be suffering from the intense migraine that started last night at 7.45pm.
When I log on here and read heart wrenching posts from Lifers, especially this morning's update from @Wheresmeticket ( sending best love & strength, dear fellow Addick ) the latest "performance" in the CAFC Circus takes a back seat.
But, it's becoming more & more difficult to to drag my old 'ead, ostrich like, out of the sand with every passing game that our Charlton Til I Die passion impels us to watch.
As has been stated already, our attendance numbers are plummetting and will continue to do so unless something that stops us in our tracks with amazement changes ...and tomorrow will be a day too late IMO.
Whether this is the enforced departure of NJ, who I was one of the first on here to back, or something SO huge that we haven't yet envisaged, a change has "gotta" come, to paraphrase Sam Cooke more than 60 years ago.
"Win games and they'll come" ....well, that's changing fast to " Lose games and they'll vote with their feet ". The time has come for brave decision making by our owners if this season is to be saved and the lifeblood of our club tempted back to The Valley.
For me, the whole ethos of Charlton Athletic has changed....The average supporter applauds the ongoing work & success of CACT, and other such initiatives but their main focus is what happens on the pitch. THIS is where they want, nay, expect their hard earned cash to be spent in the pursuit of success onwards & upwards. THIS investment is the one that matters- end of.
But they also expect their club to respond to issues they raise, problems they may encounter & appropriate staff to deal efficiently with such....and not just twice a year via the recently rehashed Supporter Group. I've had issues 3 times this season with the £7pm subscription which states that U21 home matches will be streamed as this is not the case when the 1st team action is covered on the same day. Nothing has been updated on the OS terms of the "deal" and no automatic refund is given... Then last night, our group welcomed 2 of our German Addick pals to the match ( bet they're glad they came !) who travel over here at great expense as often as possible but sadly now only 3 or 4 times each season. They are looking forward to celebrating 10 years of their existence with their biggest fan, our dear friend @GlassHalfFull come next Spring. Loyal fans who bought season tickets in past years before travel & accommodation costs rose substantially. Yet, looking forward to the annual International Supporters' Day at The Valley as they do every season, they have been told that this will have to be held on a mid week evening match this time due to the number of other initiatives requiring inclusion on the club's schedule...
And last, but100% not least, Seth's reflection on the appalling way that the sad loss of our own Kevin Nolan was barely mentioned last night says a lot about those running the club now. An absolute disgrace. Hang your heads in shame, Scott, Methven & co.
Just a few of many instances where the "average" fan and their support is taken for granted at this moment in time. The owners need to look at the big picture and address the growing dissatisfaction among the faithful both on and off the pitch. Time to realise there's even more at stake than matchday results. Perhaps we'll see a couple of them descending unannounced in Crossbars before kick off to chat with the real fans & hear what we really feel about our club currently. There's a thought !
Anyone else beginning to think Jackson wasn’t so bad. Agreed he might not have got us promotion but surely to god he’d have got a tune out of some of these fucking deadweights we’ve pulled through the door and discarded over the last few years.
270-mile, 6½-hour round-trip, didn't get back home until 1am (had to take granddaughter home first).
I've watched a load of Charlton crud over the years but that was right down there with the very worst of it.
The players looked like they couldn't be arsed, there wasn't a great deal of chasing and pressing on show.
Daniel was a bright spot in the second half when he came on and took his goal very well indeed.
Granddaughter's summing up was short and to the point: "That wasn't very good. I might come to the next one [midweek game - it's her brother's season ticket but he can't make Tuesday evenings] but if it's as bad as that again I won't bother anymore."
To be honest, I'm heading the same way. It's becoming too much of a drain driving down for home matches, in terms of time, money and energy - it's tiring doing all that driving especially during winter when it's dark. It wouldn't be quite so bad if there was something worth watching when I get there but all I've seen is clueless guff. To an extent you could put up with the shit football if we were winning ... but we're not, we're being humiliated at home by all and sundry.
I got my first season ticket in the old First Division at Selhurst and my current ST has been continuous since the 1999/2000 Championship-winning season. Unless something drastic changes with this football club this year may well be the last.
You are an absolute hero driving all that way particularly at this time of year to watch the dross played last night. And that's before you start thinking of the hassle of parking these days, the new no entry restrictions Greenwich are introducing and the gridlocked traffic in the area.
But there is a more serious point in your post. How on earth are we going to attract a new generation of fans with this dross? In current circumstances what kid wants to go to school and say I support Charlton when all his mates no doubt support Man utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham etc.
Curbs always talks of a generation of youngsters we lost by moving to Palace. Unless we are very careful we are going to lose another generation.
I think Jackson was let go because he told Sandgaard the truth in terms of what we needed and we have egotistic twats running the show who know better. Whether that be Roland, Sandgaard or the current lot.
I was dubious that Jones was the right man and wanted us to follow the only template that has worked for us in recent years. Find a hungry up and coming Charlton man. But he did ok last season and I was happy to give him a chance. Even after some puzzling decisions. We can't keep sacking managers. Rhat has been my position. But he has lost me.
I have a lot of questions, but here are some:
Why when May was going for top scorer did he sub him or drop him last season. Was he just trying to be a git?
Why did he drop Mitchell when we beat Shrewsbury 1-0 the week before?
In the same vane, why does the team seem to have unexplanable changes game to game?
And tactics, well why is he not trying to address the issue we have creating chances. I would say we have to have players who can beat a man and have a bit of pace. Why doesn't he try to find this when all the evidence shows this is our big weakness? Ok, we might not have loads of options but at least identify the issue and try to fix it!
Why did he take Coventry off yesterday? Even if he wasn't having his best game the obvious changes were passed up. They looked like clueless panicked changes?
And why the hell does he tape up his fingernails to stop him biting them? Does that not tell us something?
Absolutely says it all, unfortunately. ..mid table oblivion in view at very best, on this shambolic showing. Worst case scenario, I don't want to think about. Sorry, but it's all about winning, scoring goals, clean sheets etc...clearly, nothing whatsoever doing here.Rank awful.
After 15 minutes i said to my lad that Crawley were shit, they really were there for the taking, after 20 minutes i said we're actually worse. Sat in the freezing cold and empty NWQ and it was a chore. For those who were lucky enough to not be there last night or watch it on the tv, however bad you think it was, it was worse. Truely an abysmal performance.
Anyone else beginning to think Jackson wasn’t so bad. Agreed he might not have got us promotion but surely to god he’d have got a tune out of some of these fucking deadweights we’ve pulled through the door and discarded over the last few years.
I remember taking the view that Jackson was being short changed by the egotist Sandgaard. The form under Jackson was better than good 20 points from nine games then he lost both forwards to injury and then Sandgaard sacked him because he wanted to play a pressing game. We now know that Sandgaard wanted Jackson and Washington off the wage bill, convinced Garner to take over and promised him players to play that pressing game, knowing full well that rather than paying for a squad to be built, he was cutting back on anything and everything, lying prick. Would Jackson get a tune out of this side, only if he was allowed to bring in wide men to supply his front line but that misses the point, in my view he was a better manager than Nathan Jones because he produced results with less resources.
I keep banging the same old drum. It’s not the players fault it’s the system they are being told to play and it shows they are not comfortable with it. My reasoning is that how can the same team play good football I.e Brum and lesser extent Hollywood FC and then play like a bunch of kids having a kick about in the school yard (not a good example as school yard football was of a decent quality although hectic).
It has to be the instructions from NJ. But what I don’t understand is why the backup coaches have not poked NJ in the eye? For those waning on their support @Braziliance id just like to ask when did you start watching Charlton? If it’s recent years then to throw on the towel so early in your support seems rather premature. It’s Charlton, just enjoy the rare times they make you smile as that is a better feeling than winning all the time. 🥸🤓🤔🥳🍾🥂👍🏾🌞
It’s been a constant in my life for 60yrs, since I was 8 years old. I hate to read some of the posts that our loyal and honest supporters are posting, I read between the lines and can see the genuine hurt and frustration of the fan base.
When players have no pride or passion for the club the team and most of all the shirt I want to get hold of them and tell them the effort I made to play for the club and then the effort my son made.
I hate the style of football, it’s pub team style , and I have seen Sunday League games with more skill and intensity.
Professional players who lack basic skills are down to the people signing them, but constantly long punts is dinosaur football .
They all have coaching badges at this level, I can’t see in the coaching training manual any reference to kick and run.
But I will keep going , I love the club and the fans. But I am so frustrated with the players and manager.

I'm 33 and been a Charlton fan since I was 10 years old.
I'm not going Lincoln because I can't, I'll be at every home game. I'm not going Northampton as it's not worth cancelling Christmas plans over and I've already been there a couple of times.

Sorry mate I wasn’t trying to have a dig, it’s just when I read your earlier post it seemed so despondent and you have been very upbeat especially on your YouTubey stuff. You can be assured that us old timers feel the same but unfortunately it what it is and there’s fuck all we can do about it other than bleed the pain. But when I read a post like wheresmyticket it puts things in perspective and then realise it’s only a game and it’s doesn’t really matter as we will continue forever our support for Charlton…win or lose…or lose and lose and play shit.

Merry Christmas and happy new year 🥳
Don't need to be sorry, I didn't think you were, I was just answering your question. Texting can always come across a bit different than how someone may have said something.
I'll still be going, just having a mini break of sorts and I'll be picking and choosing a bit more.
Read all of the posts & the general consensus seems to be ‘had enough’ from newer supporters all the through to supporters , like myself, dating back from the sixties. This truly feels like the beginning of the end for our famous old club. The sequence of events from 10 years ago ( maybe longer) seems like a never ending Groundhog Day situation. No wonder we are so disillusioned. Nathan Jones felt like the right appointment to most & the one that had to work. It’s clear that it’s not going to work & anymore who comes in unless they bring instant success, or at least looking like it’s going in the right direction will not be given time as we are all so sick of the same crap being served up season after season. If only we could have stayed up following the 2019 play off success ( not helped by a well documented story of a player thinking purely of their own self interest) I really do think it could have been a turning point. We now find ourselves in a situation where we are languishing in Division One, no discernible plan how to get out , losing supporters weekly, don’t own our ground or training ground, no owners who would be willing to gamble on spending serious money on getting us quality players ( i.e Ipswich) & another season where at best we hover mid table & God forbid another flit with relegation. I’m not sure there will be another Valley Party with the fight to ensure our famous old club survives a threat to its very existence as the generational backbone to the club seems to be fading rapidly. Maybe I’m overreacting from the current sad predicament we find ourselves in yet again but it just feels different that so many of us feel so disillusioned to the current situation.
Peterbro 0-1 Burton ……. These results happen this is a shock, at least Crawley were on a decent run of form ……..
F@ck off Ronnie, it’s not that we lost, it’s the manner in which we lost. Get the shit out of your eyes, and admit that last night was an utter shower of shit. No effort, no creativity, no passion, no recognized style of play, it was just awful and has been for weeks!
It's groundhog day, 2 years to the day almost since Garner and that Cheltenham stinker, 2 managers later and we are in the exact same situation.
Something fundamentally has to change, it has to be from the very top, the SMT has failed, was it Andy Scott who said grade me on results?
Well it's a big fat U, ungradeable.....no Charlton team should be getting outplayed at home by a poor Crawley Town side, no Charlton side should be playing kick and hope football.
We are a dreadful team and a miserable club....floundering at the lowest level in our history for 5 years.
Does it get worse? Do we have to mobilise as a fan base to get rid of more chancers?
Andy Scotta exact quote which came after the sacking of Holden and before we had our worst finish in 98 years, was...
"That’s my job now, to make sure we have the strong foundation built to get promoted and stay in the Championship and progress even further, challenge at the top of that.
We don’t want this to be a waste of a season. We want this to be a successful season. We felt making the decision when we did left Michael with plenty of games to be successful with a group we feel is a strong one in this league.
We can at least challenge at the top end of the league where we feel we should be with the squad we’ve put together.
“I will hold my hands up if something goes wrong. I don’t expect to get plaudits. I don’t want to be front and centre – doing interviews. I want to do my job and be judged on how the club performs.
Peterbro 0-1 Burton ……. These results happen this is a shock, at least Crawley were on a decent run of form ……..

It would have been a much better performance if we had only been a shower of shit (first 10 mins aside) rather than an overwhelming downpour of shit.
Can't comprehend how a team that looked so good on Saturday turns into a bunch of useless, quivering wrecks 3 days later .. played off the park, outwitted and outfought by Crawley .. anyway, well done Rob Elliot who must be shaking his head in disbelief at what is the dishevelled state of his first club as a professional .. too early to say Eliot for manager ?
We have looked good against all the league two and national league sides, that’s our level
I disagree. We are at our level. As Curbs used to say, "The league table doesn't lie!"
We are a consistently average League One side, with a proven track record of being mid-table over multiple seasons. No better, no worse. We will stay at this level until someone changes all that we have been doing up to now.
Einstein said," Insanity, is to keep doing the same thing and to expect a different result!"
I my book that makes Jones insane!!!
In my book that makes changing manager again insane.
Peterbro 0-1 Burton ……. These results happen this is a shock, at least Crawley were on a decent run of form ……..
Ronnie I am not in the camp of ripping into you but if you trawl through the posts here, you will find, in the main, that it's about Charlton's performance on the night, it wouldn't matter who it's against or what their current form is, there is simply a level of expectation in your teams performance. There is also a huge number of posters who have watched the games either by being there or on Stream, the criticism of the team over the season is down to the wretched tactics employed by the Manager, 'keep it tight but if we do go one down then hoof ball ' that same Manager declared 'we looked better in the second half' when everyone who witnessed that second half thinks he's talking shit. This performance is happening too often from a squad of players assembled by Scott and Nathan Jones, in the starting eleven only two players, Leaburn and AMB were at the club before Scott and Jones arrived. We have a 28 man squad, early season we played five at the back, please don't tell me we had wing backs, because those wing backs never went into the opponents half, Steve Bruce sussed that by moving his full backs up and overmanned our midfield, on Tuesday night the twins got overmanned because once again an opposing manager can see that if his team wins the midfield, he has a good chance of winning the game. This seasons results and league position are down to those running the playing side of the club, we've long suspected that Scott is wrong for this club but a lot of us, me included, believed that Nathan Jones was right for the club, that is no longer the case.
Many of us, across various social media sites and Charlton forums have had their say. The concensus seems to be pointing towards 3 different types of action, or maybe take all 3!! 1. Remove NJ from his managerial role. 2. Get a new DoF on board to help NJ change his tactics and recruitment strategy. 3. Sack the entire SMT (Rodwell, CM and Scott) as they've been an abject failure. Now I know that the majority of fans don't partake in forums etc, so I can only surmise those that do, however, does anybody know if the 'owners' (not the useless SMT) read any of the sites? My point being we can all give our opinions and thoughts, we can point out the crumbling attendances, the absolutely 'dire' football, the anxiety of where this will finish, and the general feeling that OUR club is on 'life support', BUT if no-one in charge is reading any of this, they, I guess are blissfully unaware of how we feel. Does there need to be some kind of individual communication (emails etc) direct to the owners to voice our concerns? I'm not calling for protests or plastic pigs or anything remotely like that, however there are some good ideas that are circulating around, but they're circulating just around the fanbase! I don't think anything will change with Charlieboy in charge, and he certainly isn't going to sack himself! Somehow we need to get the message through, and it worries me that the SMT, will not be open and honest! Am I worrying unnecessarily?

I'm not calling for protests or plastic pigs or anything remotely like that, however there are some good ideas that are circulating around, but they're circulating just around the fanbase!
I don't think anything will change with Charlieboy in charge, and he certainly isn't going to sack himself!
Somehow we need to get the message through, and it worries me that the SMT, will not be open and honest!
Am I worrying unnecessarily?
