Everything booked to do the Camino Primitivo from Oviedo to Santiago next month. First thing I’ve been excited about in a long time. Booked 3 separate nights in private albergues at 4 night intervals, rest of the nights will be in public ones. Gives me 13 days to get to Santiago for the 25th July which is the feast of St. James and there is apparently a huge festival.
Got to dig out the GoPro for this I think.

due to some bits and peices in personal life holidays have taken a bit of a back seat this year however have managed to get a long weekend in to mrs family place in nice for june, luckily used a ba companion voucher so the flights were £2, got a stag in benidorm last weekend of june and then back out to nice again in july for a few days.

hoping if all works out to get a week away to my aunts place in puerto calero oct/November time.

Currently doing 10 nights in Northern Italy and half way through.

Did Milan (go very regularly, love it), Turin (pretty decent but not amazing, although I'll never forget sitting in 30 degree heat, drinking a Spritz whilst looking at snow capped mountains in the distance. We also spent about 2 hours talking to a lovely couple who are Notts County fanatics who had been at the opening of Juventus' stadium and were invited there to commemorate 40 years since Heysel), Bergamo (absolutely beautiful, great food and great locals), currently in Garda (2 nights, absolutely beautiful, better than Como which is filled with yanks, more Germans here, I speak German but I don't speak American. I'll never forget renting a boat in lake Garda and flying along at 50km/hr, unbelievable). Off to Padova today, then Bologna tomorrow, then Parma, and finally back to Milan then London.

Based on postings in here, booked a 4 night first cruise ever for me and my wife, going to Bruges and Rotterdam, we are in the Retreat on Celebrity cruises though so have zero intention of leaving the boat.

    Feeling  a tad jealous,  Huskaris.

We adored both Garda & Como but the former has to be our favourite.

Currently in Galena, Illinois as part of my great river road trip, famous for Ulysses Grant, doing a trolley bus tour this morning (6 hours behind UK) so it’s 07:30 as I write. It’s a beautiful little town.

I fly out to East Coast USA on the 22nd with a few days in NYC before heading up to Rhode Island and Boston, first holiday in years, but also it's my first ever solo trip which has been utterly terrifying to say the least.

Sounds amazing mate. I could just go on holiday to Italy for the rest of my life and be quite happy. One day I'd like to retire to a fishing village there and ride my Vespa down for a morning espresso.

We are off to Puglia/Lecce for two weeks in July. Can't wait.

Currently sweltering down here in rural Andalusia. Good job the price of a cold beer is so cheap.

Village annual Cherry fiesta took place last weekend. Really nice to see so many people/families coming together and enjoying themselves.

Just started 4 weeks on the Cote d’azul then another week in SW France Aix en Provence area. It is a very nice part of the world to OD on food and wine…or wine and food. It’s also the more pleasant time to visit before the hoards start to flood in and the thermostat gets turned up to a very uncomfortable level.
Looking forward to seeing fields and fields of sun flowers.

I'm in exactly the same boat as you. All of our summer holidays the past 3 years have been to Italy. Oh to be an Italian, all the food you could ever want, and because they unified so late each city and region is still so different, with it's own special foods and culture. Would also love to retire there. A dream for the future!

Did Bari, Brindisi, Lecce, then down to Santa Cesare and Santa Maria di Leuca last year. Puglia is an unbelievable region, you will love it! Really recommend going to Marina San Gregorio if you get the chance. The most beautiful sea that I have seen in my life, and the best sunset, will definitely go back to Puglia! Enjoy! You'll definitely need some cold beers in the heat in July! It's 30 degrees in the north in May here!

Ah would love to go down there one day, the Moorish influence on the architecture is something I absolutely love, typified by the Alhambra! Nice to hear about the festival, it seems to me there's a great festival every few weeks in Spain! Enjoy!

The Golden triangle of Saville, Cordoba and Granada are a must for any 'culture vulture' and pretty easy to do. Fly into Malaga great train service to Saville then across to Cordoba and then to Granada and back to Malaga. Malaga city is well worth a visit as well. So much to see and great food and wine obviously.

Had one of the worst days of my life in Málaga (I was dragged around as a child (about 12 years old) so don't consider it a visit). My parents are mathematically inept and I remember (back in the days of pesetas) them being furious that you could only take out £50 worth at the maximum. About 2 hours later they realised they had taken out £500 worth of pesetas. Anyway, we then get in a horse and cart tour (at my insistence) at which point some fucker in a small van ends up reaching into the cart in traffic and yanking my mum's bag (with £250 of the £500 of pesetas) out, never to be seen again.

An hour later we have filed the police report (they were trying to insist we said they were "gypsies" apparently!) and then we go to a shopping centre. My mum, being the omnishambles she is, remembered at the last second she can't do lifts so ran out, and as they closed my dad said "wait there." Fast forward 3 hours and we are calling security at 10pm to let us out of the car park because it's shut.

Apart from that though, I'm sure it's lovely.

10 years later they made the same "missing a zero" mistake when they thought they got a great deal on a rug in Morocco for £350, which was £3.5k, and that's before the VAT on import.

Anyway, what do I owe you for this therapy session?  :D

Currently in Milan having been to a wedding south of Florance. I'm really surprised how nice Milan is, plenty to do and see. Also really surprised at how reasonable the prices are for food and drink (outside the main tourist areas).

We went to the San Siro today, not impressed with the tour or stadium, it looks really tired. Didn't even get to see the trophy room.

Tomorrow we are in Como, Wii keep an eye on the yanks. A couple of days ago we went to parma and sneaked into the stadium and had a look around the stands and pitch :).

Back home on Wednesday. Would definetly recommend

If you get a chance, Osteria Fiaschetto is some of the best food I've ever had, failing that Viaggi Nel Gusto is also amazing (both in Milan in the navigli area). For lunch, Cesarino, by Duomo is the best sandwich I've had in my life.

I'm in Parma in a couple of days! Any recommendations well received!

My wife and I did our first coach trip at the end of March and into April (we didn't get voted off LOL). We travelled with Leger Holidays on their Highlights of Eastern Europe tour for two weeks. We visited the Mohne Dam, Berlin, Warsaw, Krakow, Auschwitz, Wieliczka salt mine, Tatra Mountains, Slovakia, Budapest, Vienna, Prague & Brussels. A LOT of travelling but so worthwhile as we saw so much more than we would have done under our own steam. I would totally recommend it.
In September we are off to our usual haunt in Kalamaki, Zakynthos.

Never planned on one this year, but following visiting more funerals than weddings, thought, fuck it.
Hit the credit card and got flights to LA end of August.
Not bothered about going SF, but are definitely driving to vegas
Thinking about starting in Santa Monica, then Death Valley? Vegas, back?
    Love any thoughts, ideas?
Do I stop at London Bridge?
    Thanks all.

Could be more interesting than you planned for  :/

Recently had a few days in Barcelona. Been twice before with mates so they weren't exactly cultural visits! Such a great place.

Got a week in Javea in August. Staying in a villa which we did last year.

A weekend in Gibraltar in September visiting a mate who lives there so expecting that to be boozy. Lastly a week in Dubai in October staying on The Palm.

Just back from South Korea. Had a great time. Has much of what Japan has to offer but at a cheaper price. Historic buildings, great food, cheap beer, good weather at this time of year, easy transport options and, most surprisingly, fab beaches, though the water is a bit cold.

And for the women, you can do as my daughter did and spend half your time in cosmetics and clothes shops!

If there's one country you'd pick to travel solo as a British guy, it would be the USA. You'll be everyone's best friend at the bar.
