I wonder what the percentage is of former players from the last 5 seasons playing in a level below us within a year of leaving. My guess is very high and an indication of the dross we have had in that time...
Take this with a grain of salt, but here's a rough summary of where signings are now (excluding those still at the club, without a club, overseas, etc., as I couldn't be bothered). It includes loans, frees, etc where possible.

we need this added to the quiz threadto guess the names...
There are circumstances where we already have players (a lot of them untried) at the club who could step up. As an example, say the position most suited to Zach Mitchell was looking short of players.
If Zach doesn’t get a go in circumstances like that, then any new guys coming in had better be a markedly and sustained better player than Zach.
Is this a new ruling that the transfer window stays open till Feb 3 or a one off?
The date usually changes with each window, I assume based on where the weekend falls and in August the bank holiday too. Might be lined up with the window closed dates in Europe as well.
I assume so to. With the 31st being tomorrow night I expect the powers that be (PL mostly) didnt want managers & players being on high alert the night before a match weekend. At least Monday will be calmer with no much happening Tuesday for clubs to prepare for.

Shock horror, thinking of the clubs first, nah, they just didn’t want to work over the weekend…🤔

And picking up on what CM said about clubs leaving it til the end of the loan window to put players out on loan…… in case of injuries to others in squad and therefore needing cover…. I guess it makes sense for selling/loan clubs to leave it til after the games this weekend before pulling the trigger…..?
And now I've started thinking about how it might happen say after this weekend......... if there are a whole series of domino effect transfers and loans in and out waiting to happen at different clubs, how does it work? Who blinks first? Are there 'letters of intent' which have get-out clauses written in as a just in case? Is it less formal than that? Does anyone have an inkling, I'd be interested to understand how it all works and how risk is or isn't mitigated?

More to do with the EFL offices not open on Saturday
It's 29th Jan, we've not signed anyone and nobody has thrown a tizzy! This has got to be the most panic-free January window we've had in absolutely ages
If we'd lost/drawn at Bolton and then not scored that last minute winner v Shrewsbury, the mood on here would be VERY different.
And if my auntie had bollocks we'd be discussing her on the toilets thread.
We did win those games.
We might also have beaten Reading and Mansfield but didn't.
Because we're currently doing well, have a large and nearly all fit squad there is less urgent need to make signings.
Hopefully that means quality over quantity when/if we do sign someone.
I am certainly not feeling the urgency I have felt in previous windows. Don't get me wrong, I think we need a couple in at least but we are not desperate.
The lack of injuries is a major factor in that, as usually there are gaping holes to fill because of injuries. Extraordinary that the unwanted Ahadme is the only first teamer out injured at the moment.
We can debate the amount spent/not spent on players etc but the investment in new medical staff and the apparent change in culture there was worth every penny on current evidence.
Oh is Ahadme injured ? I’d hoped he’d been ditched .
Had his foot stood on by TC in the warmup at Preston , no idea how long he's out for , has probably scuppered any plans to loan him out.
Surely it can’t be that bad, he played the first 45 mins of that game
Ballooned up afterwards apparently. Guess having a tight boot on stopped it happening sooner
