Not sure if we are even looking for a left sided centre back but Towler would be a good option till the end of the season
From team that is useless in the Championship.
What does it say about these players that they cannot get into that team.

Moxon on loan to replace doc and Gilbert a perm to replace berry ???????
    Why replace doc?
Well, he’s improved a bit lately but he’s still not great is he ? Very limited although I guess u could say players like Keith jones and kishishrv were limited so maybe I’m being harsh ?
  • Must be a familiar feeling for Dobson, looking good in a losing team!
  • Good to see theirs plenty of rumours flying around at the moment 🙄
    I wouldn't call them rumours.......more like a wish list.

Unless something has changed, Cawley has already rubbished rumours of Owen Moxon signing for us.
I know - just guessing as to who the intended champ perm and loan might be as things do change

This window is starting to feel very Roland-esque, governed spreadsheet wise by squad numbers meaning we can’t bring a player in until we offload one like Brandon Hanson or Mikhail Kennedy to some non-league club

  • GK: AMB, Mannion
    RWB: Ramsay, Watson
    RCB: A.Mitchell, Edmonds-Green
    CB: Jones, Z.Mitchell
    LCB: Gillesphey, ????
    LWB: Small, Edwards
    DM: Coventry, ????
    CM: Docherty, Anderson
    AM: Berry, ????
    ST: Leaburn, Ahadme
    ST: Godden, Kanu
    Wildcard: T.Campbell, Aneke

So currently 21 senior players at the club? With Edun, Taylor and Campbell all gone that midfield is looking incredibly light, Aaron Henry is also injured (and debatable whether he'll be good enough anyway) and I don't think Kedwell or another under 21 is ready yet either.

I think we can get away with not having a third keeper and a left-sided centre back as if Gillesphey is out you can shuffle the backline with Ramsay slotting in and Jones and Mitchell sliding along, or similarly with Edwards going LCB and Small dropping back to LWB.

Up top it misses out Dixon, and Casey and MBick are around in a severe crisis, but again none of them are "ready made" for the squad. Hylton is still here as a coach, and is probably registered as a player for the rest of the season too.

I think a combative central midfielder and a number 10 that can also play wide are the 2 signings we need to really polish off the squad as it is
  • They must be pretty confident of getting in whoever these two are. If we don’t get them then it’s pretty poor recruitment planning to let the players we have go - when we’ve clawed back this season and could be on the verge of doing something.

    Dobson, CBT esque.

  • Keeping the new signings up our short sleeves until Blackpool have done all their planning for the weekend.

Going off this , if we could manage to get 3 in - a holder/Box to Box midfielder to allow us to rest Cov/Doc , a No10 and a winger that can rotate with TC that would be a good end to the window.

Another one we’ve missed out on.
    Looks like Lutons kit.

Maybe we will eventually get him!

It's 29th Jan, we've not signed anyone and nobody has thrown a tizzy! This has got to be the most panic-free January window we've had in absolutely ages
If we'd lost/drawn at Bolton and then not scored that last minute winner v Shrewsbury, the mood on here would be VERY different.
And if my auntie had bollocks we'd be discussing her on the toilets thread.

    We did win those games.

We might also have beaten Reading and Mansfield but didn't.

Because we're currently doing well, have a large and nearly all fit squad there is less urgent need to make signings.

Hopefully that means quality over quantity when/if we do sign someone.
Henry Irving made a valid point,  after defeats at Preston and Rotherham, two more defeats would have our prospects glum. There is no need to insult and make clever snide remarks.

Does this show your  character?  That you gain some pleasure in ridiculing, someone else's genuine concerns.

You should be better than this, and accept people have a different perspective than you.

I think the players gone are certainly the right ones AFKA, and if we do bring one or two in then I want to be the right ones, by that I mean players who are a cut above what we have, not players who were nowhere near their respective first team's, such as Ladapo and Bakinson, both had seen better days and unlikely to see them again.

Bakinson has made 18 appearances for promotion chasing Wycombe btw…

Every team has weak links. Josh Parker made 10 appearances for us when we got promoted. Wouldn't have Bakinson back and 18 appearances for Wycombe doesn't change that.
  • Noticing some impatience today. Reckon we’ll get one and that’ll be that.
  • Jellied eels anyone?
