Crowley to MK Dons is scandalous
    Get in there Nathan!
Maybe, just maybe, no L1 club thinks he’s good enough for the level
His record above league 2 isn’t great
  • Haven't MK Dons also got new rich Arab based owners too? Crowley would have been a bit of a punt but fitted the mould of what we need.

    Yep, Kuwaitis.

To me Crowley looks like a Jack Payne, Charlie Kirk, DJ type player. Solid in league 2 but not good enough to make a meaningful step up. He’s 27 and really only been good for the last year or so

Oh dear God, the memories...it's like living the nightmare all over again
  • Crowley signing for MK
Gary Crowley ??  Proper cockney. Sign him immediately.

That's so disappointing regarding Crowley, as I'm fairly confident he would be a good pick up for most league 1 sides.

Suppose you have to question the players ambitions at such a literal sideways move.

But we also don't know how much MK Dons have offered, it could be silly money. Also how the player wants to play, MK Dons do play a possession game which does suit him.

Who knows, just seems such a waste from his perspective, he's ready for this league based on the last year and a bit or so. Fkn MK Dons.

He'll probably go to Bolton and be excellent. Would rather keep him and send Allan Campbell back to Luton.
Jones doesn’t see them as playing the same position. Taylor can’t get in ahead of Coventry, he’s not competing for a spot in the squad with Allan Campbell.
What happens if Coventry, a key player to how we are currently playing, gets injured? Taylor is the most like for like replacement. If you put any of the other midfielders into that position then it would seriously reduce the effectiveness of our current system. We have other options to offer what Campbell does, discounting the fact Campbell has been very poor in almost all his appearances.
I just don’t see any obvious connection between two players who play different roles for us and why the comparison was made in the first place.

If it was Karoy getting a loan and the original post said they’d rather keep Anderson and send back Campbell then it makes sense because they fulfil the same function in the squad.

But I reckon keeping Terry Taylor around has almost zero bearing on the future of Allan Campbell and vice versa.

"Charlton midfielder Terry Taylor is a loan target for Bolton and Dundee in this month’s transfer window. #cafc #bwfc #Dundee"

    Pete carrying the summer gossip!
We shouldn’t be strengthening a play off contender unless it’s a permanent move we get a decent fee for. Really hope we don’t loan him to Bolton
Completely agree. We need to be strengthening, not looking to ship out a player on loan to a play off contender. If it was for a reasonable transfer fee i'd understand it but honestly there's about 8-9 players i would be looking to get rid of before Taylor and I really don't see how Jones thinks he isn't good enough to be a part of our squad.
Because Jones sees Kia Enslin as a better option and does not want to block the pathway to the first team with a player who not playing
Kai Enslin’s a good player who deserves a chance in the first team, but if he breaks through it’s unlikely to be in as a holding midfielder in Coventry/Taylor’s role.

Jones was happy to let May go, wouldn't read into it too much on how Jones rates a player.

I think the key thing is, he would be the most sought after midfielder we have excluding Coventry. He presents more potential than Anderson, Doc, Edun, Berry etc.

We made too many poor signings (again) and now we have to try and shift the players that don't start here, despite their talent. Admittedly we have made some very good signings, but we are still a bit hit and miss for my liking.

Hard to ignore as well that we have been winning without Terry Taylor. As much as he is a good technician, is he really that important to us? That could be Jones thought process. The main thing that annoys me is it would be a loan to strengthen a potential play-off hopeful in Bolton. I would rather him go Scotland.
  • January is always a bad window to try and do major business in. Not a great pool of players usually available, you're either looking at someone that's been frozen out by a new manager or hasn't made the step up to the champ or it's a youngster on loan that hasn't been getting minutes somewhere else and the parent club recalls them.

No one is going to be selling key players now because they know they can just bump the price up to stop any interest dead in its tracks.

This is nonsense because as far as i'm aware Enslin doesn't even play in the same position as Taylor.

There is also the element of replacing individuals... a lot of clubs will be reluctant to let their decent players go unless they can be persuaded to do so with the inflated figure, because they've only got a month to find a replacement themselves - Suddenly they find themselves in the same position of having to let a decent player go, and risk replacing them with an inadequate option.

Its always a massive domino effect this month
  • Any rumours ?

I agree he's not exactly essential to our first XI and he might never be, but he's only 23, he has potential and for me is absolutely good enough to be in and around the matchday squad.

As i mentioned earlier there are several players i'd be looking to move on before Taylor. If we sold him for a decent fee to a club in another league then i'd kind of understand it, but if it's a loan to a play off contender just to save some wages then it's a fucking ridiculous decision.
I'm in agreement with you. If we were sensible, he would stay as he's a player who can offer something.

Instead we have fluffed it and have to try and sell/loan him out cause we have splunked wages elsewhere.

I'm just saying how Nathan Jones may be viewing things. My hunch is, he's been told there isn't much wiggle room, so Terry off the wage bill may help facilitate a different signing where we need someone more. Like a quick striker or a midfielder who can actually thread a ball.
  • My personal hunch is the NJ can see TT's quality but thinks there's *something* he needs to work on to get in the first team. Loaning him out should free up some wage space as @Braziliance says but should also hopefully give him a chance to play some regular football which he hasn't done for a long time now

  • So here on this thread we are completely devoid of any new rumours about ins and outs at Charlton. And purely by coincidence, so is Mr Pete O'Rourke.
You seem obsessed with this bloke and he ain’t even that bad.
Yeah I know. Just frustrated with the thread I guess.

But did you believe we’d be in for Clucas?
No I didn’t. Sounds like agent talk to me.

However, I still take note of what O’Rourke says, simply because he’s track record with us is pretty good, and he probably kept contacts from his time at Sky.
That's fair enough, I haven't really noticed him before now, and sure he must have good contacts, and uses them. But that FLW thing looks like it is relying entirely on clicks to earn money, and -leaving him personally out of it - it means posting stuff up all the time, and if there isn't enough good stuff, it'll have to be dodgy stuff.
    FLW, total joke.
