These are the players that have played for us and since moved on from the 20/21 season up until this season...
    Post of the year.
  • That post really puts it into perspective. Even of those players over the last 5 years we considered to be stand out, only really Rak Sakyi is likely to have a reasonable career at a level above league one. Of the current squad I’d expect only Ramsay and Leaburn to be moving on to a higher level.

We need to sign a goalkeeper and left sided CB. ASAP
Having watched the brief highlights we definitely need a new keeper. Corner for
their first goal was a result of AMB flapping at the ball. And for the second, he dives over it.

If only he had a centre half who could win a header may have helped...

    Collectively abject however would not object to the return of a few of them to improve the current squad;
    Dobson & CBT & Doughty(obvs)
    Clare
    L Watson
    E Lee
    Purrington
    Egbo
    Rak Saki
    Oshilaja
    Wollacott
    O’Connell
    Elewere.
And perhaps more controversial but I liked him- Lapslie.

Dont think the conditions helped... Mannion might have caught it, as he's definitely the better 'keeper at catching / commanding his area - But the wind and rain looked awful yesterday

I haven't seen it since it happened but I wasn't even sure he needed to be going for the ball, if he left it alone it would have gone out of play

That list of players. Shocking. The managers have hardly been on an upward trajectory since leaving us either, Parkinson maybe because Wrexham such a massive club now, but quite a few no longer in management at all.

Might be a bit previous describing Wrexham as a massive club...🤔
    Tongue in cheek remark.

Clare is playing for Orient, below us in the league, won’t be competing for promotion this season.  Louie Watson has been unable to find another loan/club and warms Luton’s bench. Purrington is at Exeter who are 4pts and a couple of places above us.

Egbo is in league 2, as is Wollacott, Elerewe and Lapslie.  Oshilaja finds himself at Mansfield who are better than us this season, but this was via Burton.

this was exactly my point about why we are where we are and the abject crap we’ve had to put up with both individually and collectively over the years, I can’t fathom why anyone would want any of them back, even if you felt they were okay as individuals.  Given where they are now, they clearly aren’t capable of being part of a promotion winning team, otherwise they would be at better clubs

O’Connell is debatable on the basis he’s at Wrexham, as is Lee, but I think O’Connell is now a squad player

the only ones imo that hold any weight are Rak Saki, dobson, CBT and Doughty - the rest are poor
Have to disagree somewhat on basis that those i've selected i think are more team players, perhaps more malleable or responsive, than those i wouldn't be interested in, and not liable to improve or respond to a decent manager. (And that's assuming we had a decent manager, someone for example like Lennie Lawrence in his prime, who really could pick up lower level players and get them to gel). Very subjective, i know.

Another one is Ian Maatsen, currently in Premier League

  • Talking of mediocrity I note Dean Holden has been sacked under Steven Gerrard as Al-Ettifaq languish at 11th (of 18) in the Saudi Pro league.

Mind you the likeable Holden loved the area, loved the people and loved nothing more than sharing some dates and a dallah of coffee with the locals.

  • So apart from the SMT being a bunch of chancers, the manager not having a clue and all the players being shit apart from the one who’s contract is up at the end of the season, what else have we got going on?

Call me mental but we have games against Burton, Crawley, Northampton and Cambridge coming up in our next six.

The results of those games coming out of December will have a massive bearing on how the rest of the season plays out.

If we replicate last season’s December (couldn’t beat Cambridge, Burton, Orient, Bristol Rovers, Port Vale…), we’ll be in trouble but if we can pick up a few wins then a good January and a playoff push isn’t yet out of the question.
100% Callum ! It’s both amazing and ridiculous that after our recent run of results we still have a decent chance of promotion if we can string 4 victories together from those games which should be very winnable.

I'm still clinging to that hope. Then reinforce in Jan

  • Loved NJ passion at first ,especially after Apples 1000 yrs stare ,and I wonder if he has lost the dressing room given the lack of a coherent style of play.
If I knew the answer I would be organising training and sitting in the dugout on a Saturday.
But I find it hard to keep going back to watch lacklustre football , but I will because that’s what I can contribute towards the team.
    You possibly have nailed it.
Jones has passion, but with it if things do not go well he may upset people.

I'm sorry to say it, but Karoy continues to be dreadful. The only time I noticed him yesterday was when he was pointlessly losing the ball again. It's crazy he's starting so many games for us. He's not ready for this level of football.
Strap an oxygen tank to my back and I could do his job.
  • Lallana tackle just now far worse than Doherty’s but only a yellow…
He might be shit but don't think it was a red

    [long list snipped]

The reason I post this, is that although the odd one or two may have found themselves playing at a higher level or in a team above us in this division, I think it speaks volumes about the level of crap and mediocrity we have endured for a good 5 years now.

Excluding loans, just look at where a lot of those players have ended up, League two or below.  At the time, we gave far too many of these players too much grace, when in reality the majority were and have been dross.

For too long we’ve been served up crap footballers, playing crap football (slowly), and it’s only our own delusional hope that we allow ourselves to think that the likes of Adhame will ‘come good’ or ‘push on’

Very few have come good or pushed on since signing for us in the last 5 years, and I imagine when the current crop of players have moved on in the next 2-3 years, they’ll also be able to find their way to the likes of Gillingham, MK Dons and other staple League 2 teams

      Alfie who ?  :D
  • This angle of the first goal is astonishing. 0 defenders jump to head the ball

Just seen the tackle, it was reckless.  We'd be screaming for a red if the situation was in reverse.

I have been unimpressed with our keepers since Phillips. I have noticed that when AMB concedes there is absolutely no reaction from him. It's like he has conceded in training.
Noticed that for a while now, he'll jump straight back up and quickly get the ball without a hint of emotion. It's odd.

But Maatsen & Rak Saki were loans. They were never going to stay with us.
