This seems to be a stick to beat May with, but doesn’t every striker tend to score in streaks? If they scored regularly over 40+ games then you’d have players on 25-30 goals a season, which rarely happens.
You’re definitely right - I just don’t think I’ve ever seen it be as extreme as it is with Alfie. The same thing happened last season with us - coinciding with that awful run of 15 odd games without a win.
Turned out to be an excellent signing for them and as expected, we gifted them a golden goose for this league.
I've actually seen their fans on socials say they'd like him to have a crack at the championship, I personally thought he was championship standard while he was here.
We will soon find out, I reckon he will be a squad option for them next season, plenty of games, and it's usually quite foolish to let a natural goal scorer leave unless you have adequate replacements.
I get the impression he scores most of his goals when Birmingham are dominating the opposition.
Stupid post, Last Season we weren’t dominating the opposition. He scores goals because he is an excellent goalscorer at this level. He kept us up last Season. How’s Ahadme doing? One league goal all season. We bought a turkey there.
How Godden doing he was May replacement... I would say he doing better then May

Ahadme wasn't bought to replace May, he was cover for Leaburn. Godden is the like for like May fill in.
Not to say that Ahadme hasn't been a let down (he has) but he was never intended or expected to score at the same rate as May was.
Ahadme was given the number 9 shirt and started the season in the side . We also spent money on him.

The stats for last season when with us and now he is at Birmingham say that May was better at both clubs. He's also proven that from the bench he can change games.
Last season May scored 23 goals in 40 starts and 3 sub appearances. This season he has 15 goals and 8 assists at 89 minutes a time from 24 starts and 15 sub appearances. That's the equivalent of just shy of 23 full appearances with a goal or assist in each and every one. There isn't a single player in this division that can match that in terms of overall contributions to goals.
He is a streak striker but one aspect to bear in mind is that, due to the presence of Stansfield, he has only started 24 matches. One should also add his 8 assists to his 15 goals in terms of his value to Birmingham - a goal or assist every 89 minutes. It was his decision to go but if Godden was bought at his replacement then the like for like comparison is Godden's 14 goals and 1 assist - one every 140 minutes.
Sorry, this can't be true. I have heard too many times on here that Alfie's all round game isn't up to much and all he brings is goals. 🤣

Yeah thats just being silly though, I really dislike the hero worshipping of May by some fans who likely have some sort of connection to him whether sentimentally or in real life but the idea that he was anything other than a top top player for us (even aside from his goalscoring) is beyond silly, one would even dare say ludicrous.
The reason he got the life changing move was because of how well he played last season. Ultimately the decision to leave was May's and people jumping to blame everyone else is distasteful and frankly comes across sycophantic (yes I'm sure part of the reason was down to NJs evaluation of May and how he wanted to play) but again he was one of the best players we have had down here in the league one era.
The above is why I have no dislike for May ultimately he made a decision that was best for his career, his family and his life after football. Equally NJ made decision to do things the way he wanted as oppose to molly-coddling the fans feelings, knowing full well if it backfired thats his risk and its paid off for him. It's unarguable we are a better team today than we were last season and thats due to the decisions NJ has made. It is a rare case in football as a win-win for everyone.

Agree a bit. But he was meant to also bring others into the scoring charts, luckily we've done okay without him.
But I will still act like he's the villain as we could have scored more with him.
This is interesting, definitely worth scrolling through the responses. The main thing i take from it is that for Brum fans Alfie has played a bigger role in their season than you'd think from reading our thread. Equally interesting about Stansfield.

If we’d kept Alfie May, we would’ve got promoted last night. Don’t come at me saying we didn’t have a game though - Alfie’s presence would’ve made sure we had one.
May sold to Brum - Champions. Dobson - to Wrexham 2nd.
Gooden, Doc, Berry, Gillesphey, Mannion, Mitchell, Gilbert, Mcintyre, Campbell getting played - Bizarre like we are a completely different team to last season

No there was definitely some posts insinuating that May and Dobson were a part of our low league finish to take some credit away from them.
Along the lines of "all his goals but lead to nothing" etc.
That isn't a fabrication, there were posts of that nature.
Well to that I say see my previous posts for a true and reflection on Alfie's short time here.
Then once everyone has read what we can all agree is the truth, we can probably just close this thread.
However you do seem to be changing the goal posts now your first point was that some were saying we finished low because of May and Dobbo (which is of course untrue, they were why we didnt get relegated).
Then now say some are insinuating that Dobbo and May were part of our lower finish to take credit away from them (which is undeniably true). Which is it ? The fact of the matter is we are a better team for decisions that NJ made and one of those was letting May go, whether we would of been better had he stayed we will never know (personally I doubt it its likely we would of had an unhappy dressing room from what's been said by people who seem to know Alfie personally).

I blame Alfie for Ahadme being with us.

Dobson - to Wrexham 2nd.
Parker to Chelsea - Premier League Winners
Wasn't hard to work out if we had players of that quality throughout the squad we'd have been up there.
