Someone on the other forum says NJ and eight players are off training with a bug.
If true, that will teach us to not cancel games during international weekends 🥴
That will teach us not read the Other Forum
What about 'other' forums with mostly pictures?

I think its also been posted on here.
  • 2-0 (Ahadme, Godden)
  • 0-0 win and football will be the loser

  • In his pre match interview Nathan Jones said that they view the season in five match segments. He also said that if Charlton continue to win three out of every four they would do very well.
What he didn’t say is if you drop points now it is no biggie because you can catch up later.
It seems to me he wants the kind of consistency at all points throughout the season that some supporters like me want to see.
He certainly didn’t indicate that demanding decent results right now puts undue pressure on, nor was his thinking longer term like judge us after ten games, or half a season, or when the January window closes.
  • 1-0 to us. Probably an ugly match with the odd red card thrown in.
As an aside, if we win the toss will we kick towards home end first half? We are invariably slow starters when we kick towards the away end.
Against Bolton we were at it right from the beginning.
  • Evans will eat more pies than NJ. That's the only certainty, however I stick with my new found optimism and raise my previous 1-0 to 2-0.
  • Catching up on Charlton Life and it sounds like their defence don't like making tackles, TC up against that could be. match made in heaven

Against this Rotherham side, I really wouldn’t be surprised to see Allan Campbell start with Berry on the bench, pushing Docherty slightly further forward.

I’d like to see Godden start as well but I think if we take out TC, we will actually lose a little bit of attacking flair. However, TC and Aneke to come on second half against a slow and tired defence who have been heading the ball all day might work out for the best.

It’s times like now I wish Leaburn was fully fit as well. He’d be great in a game like tomorrow. I think Ahadme is going to get bullied a bit and it won’t be until Aneke comes on we see the difference. Might even throw a surprise and see him on the bench..?

Horrible game and one where whoever is more physical, whoever is in your face more, is likely to get the 3 points.

    Mannion
    Mitchell Jones Gillesphy
    Ramsay A.Campbell Coventry Small
    Docherty
    Godden Ahadme

AMB, Watson, REG, Berry, TC, Aneke, Leaburn

    Low scoring game.

    Charlton Athletic 1-0 Rotherham United
    Godden
I like the logic behind it but I’m not sure if A. Campbell is actually ready to start games. Has he played minutes in any football matches since December 2023? I don’t think he was involved in any of Luton’s pre-season games

Pretty sure NJ said yesterday that he is. He's one of those players with a naturally great engine from the sounds of it
  • Charlton Athletic are unbeaten across their last eight league games against Rotherham United (W4 D4), scoring at least once in every single game during that run.

Rotherham United have failed to win any of their last four away league games against Charlton Athletic (D3 L1), with three of those finishing 1-1.

Charlton Athletic are unbeaten across their last nine home league games (W4 D5), their longest unbeaten run at the Valley since a run of 20 matches between October 2018 and August 2019.

Rotherham United have lost each of their last 11 away league games, the longest such current run in the EFL. The Millers have also failed to score in their last eight away league games – their longest ever run in the EFL.

  • my first game of the season, so far have only seen the 2nd half of Reading away!

no idea what to expect, but a win would be massive with very few other games going on.

    think we'll nick it 2-1

I really don't want it to be us that they break their woeful streak against, but we do love gifting teams. I hope Nathan Jones changes our fortune in that regard
  • Horrible game one thing for sure it’s not going to be pretty , a game most charlton  fans before the season started would take a point now .. but both teams getting used to wholesale changes , Charlton clearly been the better of the two , but with only 3 games in league one and we are at home just hope it don’t put to much added pressure on us not to lose ..

We already issues with this ref as well at Barnsley last season he failed to see the ball clearly out at the corner flag allowed Barnsley to play on and score ..

One change for me Godden for Campbell don’t think the experiment as worked, does not work hard enough , and does not read the game well
enough  when you play in a partnership ..

Result … Neither side want to lose so I am going with the draw .. and i would take that now if offered

  • This already has the feeling of such a key game. We’ll be looking to respond to the Reading result and also hope that we’re not the team Rotherham end their winless away run against. I’m thinking a tight affair but we’ll hopefully come out 3-1 winners. (A Campbell, T Campbell, Godden - Clarke Harris will give them 1-0 lead)

A loss and this place will need to be avoided for a good few days.
  • I reckon we'll draw... Although 4-6 points from Bolton - Reading (Who I think are better than given credit, and am bloody glad they didnt get their takeover completed before the Window closed) - Rotherham isn't a bad haul I don't think.
Depends if it's 4 points or 6 though really.

4 points from 3 games, of which 2 were at home, wouldn't be so great given we have aspirations of promotion.

6 would obviously be very decent.
  • Any kind of win -

Win this and the hope kicks back in.

    Big test.

Jones do it mate - make it happen Jones.

  • Win at home and draw away, easy 😁
  • As some have said, losing is one thing, far more important is how you recover from that loss. Some players may have been avoiding eye contact with Nathan Jones this week and with good reason. I expect a win and so does Nathan Jones and I'm sure he will display his forgiving side if that is the outcome.

For what it’s worth I rate this as a ‘very important game’.
Win; the mojo momentum will be maintained. It’d be great for morale to beat one of the favourites for promotion, and it’d solidify our early position in the playoff places.
Draw; no major drama, but it’d increase pressure to pick up wins against Burton and (mighty) Stockport.
Lose; we’ll all be bricking it, yet again, and probably slipping out of the playoff places.
The positivity engendered by our pretty decent start can all too easily slip away.
And I’m missing my second match in a row for family reasons, when I’ve hardly missed a game in years. ☹️
However, I think we’ll nick it, with Adhadme breaking his duck.
RSPCA issue, we're already in trouble for pigeon harassment
  • Please win and shut the Fat Gobby Coach driver up 2-1 COYR
  • Have a feeling whoever scores first goes on to win.

A win guarantees that we finish the day in first or, if Wrexham win, second position.

Follow that up with a win against Shrewsbury and that would guarantee we are sitting in 1st on the evening of the 14th regardless of anyone else’s results.

Yes it’s early in the season & yes we will have played extra game(s) but top spot after six played is there for the taking. Do we have it in us?

We rarely do it the obvious or easier way though do we?

The long away defeat record isn't that relevant, as 9 were in the Championship in a relegation season. Rotherham have been regularly yo-yoing between L1 and the Championship for years now, in L1 they will be promotion contenders.
