The way this is going & if it is only till January,he will be signed with a couple of games left at this rate, anyone know what the real hold up is…?
Yes, it's weird the way this is dragging on. You'd have thought we were negotiating with some superstar player with counter offers from Spain or Saudi, rather than a journeyman lower league striker with little interest elsewhere.
I wonder if there is resistance from elsewhere in the club?
That feels likely to me. We have 7 forwards (including wingers in TC and Dixon), Hylton would struggle to make the bench most weeks so Jones must want him around the training ground as Garry suggested above.
His time at Northampton doesn’t suggest there’s a player a promotion chasing L1 side could use to see out games, on the pitch he appears to be a player well past his best.
What are we offering. Use of the communal bath on match days, free coach travel to games and use of Dubbin for his boots after training, plus bus fare home?
Surely he can't be getting much salary if he is intended to be a squad player getting game time each week.

Seems we need more forwards as I can’t see any of our forwards scoring enough for us to make a promotion push so more the merrier for me !
Our squad age is about average for this league now isn't it? Last I checked.
Something feels off about this signing but in Jones we trust.
Totally agree with this post, something feels very off re Hylton. Willing to give the benefit of doubt with this signing, but the nepotistic signings of late aren't a great look.

Not liking these ex-Luton signings TBH........some definitely past the 'sell by' date also ....Ramsay was a good pickup but even he was prob known by NJ when at Southampton......

I can see what Jones might be thinking Hylton can add in terms of professionalism, training etc but there’s no way going on his recent record that he directly improves our goalscoring threat.

Like who? Berry is 32 but was playing in the Premier League last season and looks like one of the fittest players we have. Potts has had injuries but spent his previous 4 seasons in the Championship. Allan Campbell is 26 and has never played below Championship level. Hylton is the only one that doesn't really make any sense so far and by the sounds of it he's primarily there to affect the culture and probably to come on and ruin games when we're 1-0 up and need to see it out
Brandon Williams ? (question mark added for fear of 'knowing something' or not in this case, I saw his name on the Free list and wondered if we could convince him to sign) Would slot in at LCB/LB with ease.
I can't see that it has been posted on here but it is in the public domain that Williams will go on trial at Chester Crown Court in March for dangerous driving — a charge he denies — in relation to a high-speed accident in August last year. At an earlier hearing, it was said that Williams had been behind the wheel of an Audi A3 and was “seen by witnesses to have taken nitrous oxide from balloons”. Even with a "get out" clause should he be sent down, not many clubs are likely to sign a player who might not be in the right state of mind and that would be missing during the period of that trial and potentially for years afterwards.
