Yeah agreed - wages could be an issue: plays left side centre back too I’m sure.. will bring the level up a lot and is a free agent. I’m certainly not in the know on this one, but more of a wish than anything… hopefully AS is reading this 😂
What's AS got to do with this   etc etc etc...😉

The lad was on 50k plus at utd so that would be a no. I would like someone like Aaron Connolly to come in as well as Fred Onyedinma but I think I’m getting greedy
Not sure Fred Onyedinma is the answer.
we need goals and he’s not full of goals or assists
For anyone who has not got a clue who he is here is his Wickie https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Onyedinma
Seen plenty of him. I wouldn’t be overly excited by him, and read his Wiki.
I remember his Motm v Charlton too. It was a very poor game.
  • I just want us to sign anybody and everybody now just to shut up Ackworth on FB.

Aaron Connolly would be an interesting one. Has never fulfilled his potential though and had a reputation down in Brighton for being a bit of a party boy.
Didnt realise he was Out of Contract either, wouldnt mind giving him a trial... Almost had the similar potential to Evan Ferguson down at Brighton.
Have never been impressed when seeing him play for the Republic and he’s certainly not in the same bracket as Ferguson. Would seriously need to buck his ideas up to fit in with NJ, but still only 24 and L1 could be the right level for him to do that successfully but I’m sceptical.

I know striker isn't what we need but he could be an interesting option if NJ can sort him out. Think there's other names on this thread that are way more likely.
I disagree. I think we do need a striker despite the amount we already have . We are severely lacking quality up front . Having said that , by now.  The out of contract strikers available have probably not been snapped up for good reason.

I'm just skeptical from living down in Sussex and knowing a lot of Brighton fans - feels like he's one that's at a crossroads that either getting released by Hull makes him knuckle down at last and realise his potential or he'll be playing non league next. I'd question if he's the type of character NJ would want around the club despite the ability.

Sounds like we’re sceptics in agreement in this one.
  • And why do you think the rumour is from an authoritative source, @CoveredEnd  ?

  • Think we are desperate for creativity plus Potts! If the game plan which is the high press isn’t working we’ve not got the player to open anything up. Feel a bit sorry for the new lad up front at the moment. Feeding off scraps!
keep hearing about creativity.. but we had 5 good opportunities at Reading for an away team that’s pretty decent chances created … the fix is very simple Godden for Campbell
For once i agree . God forbid 😳

His track record is similar to a few on here & elsewhere.
More often right than wrong and of course the wrongs are often right when they were told and then something subsequently changes.
    Fair enough, thanks.

  • The creative player if it happens needs to be way more effective than Lua Lua.
At the time of his loan, and certainly right now, we have developing players better than Lua Lua already in the building.
What we don’t really need is a nice guy trier like Josh Davison was, but somebody who can really make a difference.
  • Campbell’s contract was probably a case that Jones couldn’t afford to get rid of all the players from last season. He’s 23 and hasn’t established himself so there’s a reason for this. Saw Charlton against Bolton played well created two chances & scored both. We’ve been after it seems a creative midfielder and had one on trial preseason but couldn’t sign because too many already on the books.
  • Marcus Browne would fit.
  • Tyreece Campbell is 20, not 23
  • Yes you’re right! Will he establish himself with goal assists & goals?

This season, he will easily beat last seasons league tally of 2 goals and 5 assists.
  • TC at 20 is a very good prospect imo.  He has had the misfortune of coming through under a range of poor managers and different playing styles but it is quite obvious he has quality and skill.  He will play at or above L1 for his career imo.
  • Potts - Do we really need another LB/CB ? I think we need a better striker and creative mid......
  • Creative midfielder. Bring back the  Bacon 🥓 Paul Bacon.

We have one left-sided centre back and he's had some injury issues in recent years. As much as he was a pretty average L1 player Thomas was able to play across the back line and we've lost that versatility now, there's not really anyone else in the squad who can play there apart from Edwards, and he's injured and a bit wasted at CB. Plus, he's done pretty well so far but if you had to identify a weaker link in our backline it would be Gillesphey. Signing a player who has played around 90 Championship games would be a trade up and improve our first team, especially as he knows Jones' way of playing already.
  • Jones was asked about Potts in his press conference.

Decision to be made in a few days to paraphrase his words but very complimentary about the player.
