How close do you live to the Valley?

With the diversity of places Charlton fans live on here, Im wondering if Im one of the closest. I about a 20-30min walk or a 10min bus ride away. Im sure Ive heard of people living on Floyd Road here, and there are others half a world away who still come to games.

If the roads are clear it’s maybe a 10 minute drive.
15 minutes on the bus to the Standard then about a 12 minute walk.
Half an hour or so to walk to Blackheath Station and a five minute train ride.
When the blessed loopy loop train was running it is 10 minutes to Lee Station and about 40 minutes on the train to Charlton.
Every option varies according to engineering works, weather, timetables, time of kick off, road closures, parking restrictions and so on.
If a person lives within walking distance that is great, the proximity of the station is great, but the trains can be unreliable.
As the crow flies maybe around 3 miles.
  • 59 miles as the crow flies, but actually 81 to drive door to door.
  • 80 miles away
  • 7.5 miles in God's own borough

Until I was 11, half a mile away in Victoria Way and then a mile from Cherry Orchard Estate until late teens
  • 3 miles away.
  • One great thing about living relatively locally has been the option to follow the U21’s and some years ago the U18’s at Sparrows Lane.
When the U21’s played at Badgers (CVPM ground now) it was within walking distance.
  • 17 miles, in Barnet. I used to walk to Barnet games when they played at Underhill and would have loved to be able to do the same for Charlton.
  • 6 miles
  • 80 miles away
  • Live in Herts, 32 miles away as the crow flies - no historical family link to SE London whatsoever

  • I used to live in Thamesmead and then Bexleyheath, now I make my way from Ashford.

Think the hardest times was around 2016-2019 where I lived in Sheffield and then Nottingham. Went to more or less every away when I lived up that way, but rarely went to home games.
  • Eltham boy but not lived there since I went to Uni in 72, though family still do. Now live a bit further away, obvs.
  • Half hour walk away, 10 on the bus.
  • 3.5 miles from Lee Green.  Always walk - round walk trip burns at least two pints, IMHO.

4.5 miles, about 1 hr & 20 minutes walk, or one bus to the village. Used to stop in Woolwich for a pint and then jump on the train, now two buses with a few pints in between.
  • 122 miles

Having not lived nearby for more than 30 years and no longer attending games, taking an interest in CL makes me feel as though I'm involved at some level, even though really I'm not.

Zone 3 to Zone 3 via Zone 1

Grew up about 20 minutes walk from the ground as kids, get to last kids house on the route around 2pm, in the ground around 20 minutes later, the singing/atmosphere starting around 2.30
