People judging him on one random game where half our team were ressies and youth, when as a team we were devoid of ideas in general.
But its not just "one random game" is it? Many people that watch the U21's are stating the same thing i.e. he needs to strengthen to compete in L1.
I've personally seen him four times this season, once in the first team as a sub and three times for the U21's. Whilst very promising he still needs to strengthen. Anybody who has followed CAFC over recent years or so can point to a number of cases where young forwards were rushed into a struggling first team too early (e.g. Josh Davison). Confidence quickly drains away (especially in forwards) and they struggle to make any impact.
The signs are that CAFC might have learnt the lessons in giving young players, especially forwards, time to develop. Hopefully Kaheim Dixon can make a few appearances in a confident first team before the season finishes, work on his upper body strength in the summer and make an impact next term.
I think Dixon is best wide in a front three and only played striker because we've thinned out our kids and Mbick is long term injured. Plus adapting to the seniors 3-5-2.

Has he played for us wide in a front 3 since signing?
There'd be no more pressure on Dixon coming into a promotion chasing side than there was on Harriott, Cousins or Doughty who all came into relegation threatened teams. Sometimes you've got to give them a shot and accept it could go either way.
I think if I were a young international footballer I might start to wonder how many more hat tricks do I need to get in the reserves at an average third division football club before I get a sniff of the bench, especially when I see goal machine Ahadme ahead of me?

We forget how Carl Leaburn struggled having been pushed into first team duties due to financial necessity far too early. In the end he became a great servant to the club but not before he was battered around by top flight defenders. As a striker, how many goal did he score in his first 100 games? He had way more potential than he achieved, failing to achieve it because he was played too early.
Let’s hope he gets on, makes an impact, we win and we can have 5 pages of debate on whether he did well because he was held back vs he should have been involved months ago 🙂
Looking at him warm up earlier, he's not as skinny as he looked when we first signed him, he's not got arms like Aneke but he's definitely put on a bit of mass
Pretty promising cameo. Game state helped but he didn’t really look out of place
As you say the state of the game helped but if we are still using the high press and chasing them down after 80 minutes have gone then he's a better option than Ahadme.

He has but Rylah is a winger who hugs the touchline so is not really a bona fide part of a three, and Casey was out for a while.

Disagree personally. He came on and looked lively off the ball but to me he didn't look ready for first team football. Hopefully he has a strong summer and we can look to use him properly next season.

This can be said about all young players when they are first given an opportunity.
seeing he needs to bulk up, he put in a couple of good challenges. As someone posted above, a better option off the bench than ahadme
Yes he needs a good summer and pre season behind him and needs to be ready for selection next season. Should we not gain promotion which is probably 60/40 against then I’m sure Small will be off so we need Dixon to come in and fill that gap.
Reckon he was trying a bit too hard and experiencing a few nerves.
Needs easing in but is the only like for like with Tyreece so a few cameos like that will help him.
Looks physically like Tyreece did when he first broke through. Bit of time in the gym and learning how to use his body will complement his pace and skill very well.
Nice to see the other players supporting him, Anderson talking him through the game, Chuks and Doc doing the same. Pushing him to celebrate with the fans post game.

I’m a better option than Ahadme . Great to see Dixon given a chance
Think he looked pretty good, tracked back and tackled much more than i was expecting, looked nervy but still dangerous, wouldnt want him staring but having him on the bench seems like a good option.

Get him to spend some time over the summer with whoever trained Campbell in the gym last summer.

I was impressed with his defensive work actually, one great block in front of the Jimmy Seed.
In attacking areas, he looked a bit lightweight, but I'm sure Dr Abbott will have a programme for him over the summer.

Well after all that discussion Dixon makes the bench, in NJ we trust
Today was good for his development and increasing the physical/social side (as some fans have been calling for). Thankfully today was a good day and we didn't need to depend on him and hope he enjoyed the celebrations.
