To say I had a nightmare yesterday was an understatement.
Was my twins birthday, so had a big day planned. We were driving back from near Ascot, so about 1hr 15 drive. Junctions 10-11 were closed in both directions on M25, so big diversions and massive delays. Final get on M25 and then break down between 8-9. Sitting in the hard shoulder waiting 2 1/2hrs for AA.
After some stops and negotiation (getting messed around by AA mechanics), finally get towed home after 6hrs. Family BBQ at 2 becomes family BBQ at 6. Go to start BBQ and none of the burners would work.
Didn’t have much confidence we’d win last night! 🤣

Right on my doorstep mate. Would've been more than happy to get you to a local for the build up, while Mrs and kids waited for the AA.
I was staying in Germany for the last week and a half so just had to get the train from Dortmund to Frankfurt (about 4 hours).
Having done a total of 19 days out here for the tournament, it’s a real kick in the nuts for it to end the way it did. It’s going to hurt for a while this one.
4 hour train to the airport now and will probably get home about 8pm tonight.

Well done Tom you certainly sound like you put in the miles and the hard graft with England. One day we all hope the reward of seeing them win a tournament will materialise. We can now look ahead to the season with Charlton, I’m convinced it’s going to be a good season with Nathan Jones in charge COYR.

On the way to the airport now thankfully have a flight to City rather than the ballache of trains
Great day result aside the thing about England football is that it brings everyone together and I’ve now got two Millwall mates from the hotel, top lads

Got to the Blythe Hill Tavern in Catford at 6.30pm and managed to get some seats right by the TV - the All-Ireland Gaelic football final finishing a little earlier had its advantages!
It’s all about the journey - we were lucky enough to be there for England’s first game and the tournament’s last game. Sharing it all with my wonderful sons made it so much more special.
Absolutely gutted last night and this morning, though!
what a stadium, and what history. I intend to get the photo I took of the roll of honour carved in stone at the top of one of the towers of the 1936 Roll of Honour blown up and framed with the top two reading ‘100m Owens USA’ and 200m Owens USA’. I had something in my eye when taking it.
Flight home from Munich cancelled, after 5 hours of delaying it and delaying it a bit more in South Eastern Trains style. This shit doesn't happen when you win.
