  • Hide under settee. Do a bit of gardening at half time.

My guess is that they have worked longer than you ever will.
The ever increasing age of retirement would suggest otherwise…
Swings and roundabouts TBF as most pensioners will have started work a lot earlier than those that will have to wait a little longer for their state pension. Many would have left school at 16 and started work straight away. Today a lot more soap dodge and go to uni and then find it harder to get a job.
    Even 15.
  • Remember folks,  "Win or lose, ON THE BOOZE!"

  • Playing cricket with eldest at Cockfosters , will shoot home and catch the game with Mrs .
Rest of kids are in Mallorca with father in law and sister in law and cousins
Got offered tickets and flights for the final for a small fortune , left it up to son who said “I’d rather play cricket , England don’t do it for me like Charlton “
I wasn’t fussed it’s a second rate trophy I’d have pushed it for the World Cup Final 😉

id take penalties now , we win them
love penalties and all the stress

Weather is looking good, so garden with telly and a few friends around it is.
My sons got four tickets for the o2 and asked if I fancied it.
I think he was being polite as he knew there wasn’t a hope in hell of me going there.
What time do you want me there mate?
    About 10:30pm.
    You’re more than welcome mate.
Off to Sittingbourne this afternoon to see Wellings finest in action if you fancy it?

Anyone know a good boozer kind of anywhere in SE that isn't yet completely done for bookings? A load of us have left it a bit too late as we're playing cricket in Shoreham (1pm start, 30 overs a side, done by 5ish we hope) and weren't sure when we'd be able to get somewhere.

Ideally one of Greenwich, Kidbrooke, Dartford, Lewisham/Lee, Bromley would be the options owing to the respective geographies of our group and transport logistics. Cheers
@p@PaddyP17 The Wickham Arms is a nice backstreet pub in Brockley, just off Lewisham Way. 1 big screen/projector, 2 regular size screens. Not been in for any England games, but always good for Prem/Champs League. Rising Sun on Loampit Vale could also be an option, although it did have a Millwall shirt on the wall last time I was in there. I'd phone in advance but neither are the type of place that would do reservations.
  • At home with the missus and a few friends.

We won’t get to see England in many major finals in our lifetimes, so just gonna enjoy it.
Was talking to a mate about this yesterday. His little boy is 10 and has seen us in 2 finals already. I had to wait 40 years for one!

Same scenario for me - 46 years for a major final - yet my 4 year old daughter (who is football mad - my fault) will have had 2 come tomorrow.

Same with my 11 and 13 year olds.

Almost resent them not having to go through at least 6 tournaments of pain before getting any semblance of success

Quite possibly not with the increasing retirement age.

My guess is that they are miserable old gits.
  • I shall watch at home with my other half. My youngest (30) has decided with 3 of his mates to drive to Amsterdam today,  then go on to the final just to soak up the atmosphere in a fan park or something! Madness of youth!

If it weren’t for the dickheads throwing beer at, and giving abuse to, Southgate then he would probably want to stay, and we’d probably get to see some more.

Sounds like the FA want him to stay on, so be interesting if he decides to stick it out until the 2026 World Cup, and risk tarnishing his time with us, especially as the pressure as potential European Champions will be even more intense.

Also worth remembering that the winners of tomorrow, will face one of Argentina or Colombia in the Finalissima next summer.
  • Regardless of tomorrow’s result it sounds like the FA want Nigel to stay on and he’s the most successful England manager since you bribed the officials in 66.

how would everyone feel if he walked away for club football?

Scotland had it with both Walter Smith and McLeish and despite them not even qualifying for anything it still pisses me off that they walked out on their country for club football, imho playing for/managing your country is supposed to be the proudest part of your career and you should only stop when you’re no called up/a change of manager is needed

This is what I really didn’t want to happen. The FA are always making crap decisions and that one would be as mental as previous bad ones. Thank him for his remarkable service, give the bloke a knighthood and part company. Limping to the final in this doesn’t excuse his lack of nous with the squad he has my nan could get to the final with the draw we had.
im praying he goes into club management with Man Utd that would be hilarious 🤣

I dont see him back in the Club game, not as a success anyway. He's another Chris Coleman, can work wonders when he has limited time, but struggles when restrained by budgets etc.

Like you I also think he and Steve Holland would be f**ked without the other.

Won't be surprised if a Middle East team throws money at him

United were apparently seriously considering him during the season

I’ve mentioned before but I think Steve Holland is the one making all the calls and I reckon he’d get a crack at it if GS goes
  • I'll be wetting the whistle about 3pm down brighton, then around 6pm heading down a local bar to watch it. Can't wait for it.
  • Heading out to a pub here in Perth called the Woodvale, will be packed with English fans at 0300am on a Monday morning.

One good thing living over here other than the beautiful beaches is that you accumulate loads of leave through different means at work, so don’t think many people will have to think about work Monday morning 😂🍻⚽️👍

    Enjoy Bob!!
  • Will be watching at home with the missus.  Missing watching with jnr as I have shared all of his most significant football memories up til now - hoping for a drunken facetime around 10pm…

As others have said, strange that a lot of kids have seen as much ‘success’ as me because of recent tournaments.

I was too young to remember ‘66 and 1970 was a bit hazy - after that it was a whole series of failing to qualify as much as not performing at the finals
  • Watching at home on my own, Mrs is away visiting family. Pretty relaxed about it, after 55 years of watching England I always convince myself it’s not gonna happen in a self defence sort of way. Saying that, will go absolutely mental if they actually win the whole thing.
