Docherty is somebody I think could be performing better than he has been with better coaching / tactics , goals well taken yesterday let’s hope we can see better from him ahead
That's a great interview. I've got a lot of respect for players who want to improve the mental side of the game and are putting in the time outside of the club.
Re: His celebration, he's just scored his second of the game and it's an absolute screamer. Adrenaline is pumping and I doubt he's thought his celebration through. I'd rather pay attention to his post-match comments which are very good.
Been cracking this month. Really playing like a captain and just doing the dirty work. He's not spectacular but he has a real engine on him and does the things you need a L1 midfielder to do

Maybe need to give his partner the POTY award.
He's been a different player ever since that pregnant goal celebration that he did at Northampton.
Looks solid without standing out, but that's a good improvement from earlier in the season when he was often invisible. I think the pace and width on both sides helps takes pressure off the midfield to be creative and helps us play at a higher tempo - Docherty is really benefitting from that.
think his contributions can be missed at times but he always seems to just get a toe to the ball to stop a counter or draws a foul, really tidy midfielder and vocal too, glad his quality starting to show after the ropey start to the season
Nathan Jones (smiling) asked about Greg Docherty's absence: "I don't know who books a caesarean the day before a game but, hey, that is what happens. Congratulations to him, we're glad everything is good but we've won a few games without him - it could be to his detriment."#cafc
Thank you for all of the nice messages tonight it’s really appreciated. 👶 Topped off by watching the boys bring home the 3 points! ❤️ #UTA@CAFCofficial

So the sprog was delivered by caeserean so not like his missus spent hours in labour and he was up all night plus as Jones alludes why book it the day before a game and then he manages to sit at home and watch the game. Wouldn’t have happened back in the day.

Yeah the interesting thing in Jones's comment (and why I posted it) is that Docherty isn't a guaranteed starter at the moment. It is of course right that he has whatever time off is needed for his family

Considering this was a rearranged game and cesarians are booked months in advance, it’s easy to see why it would have been booked day before a game. Reminded me of Patrick Bauer becoming a dad just before the play off semis.
Remember this game was rearranged and the caesarean was probably booked before that?
Though I’ll always have huge respect for Patrick Bauer who played in that home semi final v Doncaster when his wife had been in labour all of the night before, giving birth around 5am. That’s why we called him BFG.

So you called him BFG because he played in a game after his wife gave birth ?

Blimey has it really got to the stage on here where you can’t say anything lighthearted?
@Weegie Addick Big brother and little sister are watching with a fine tooth comb and are waiting to pounce. Sorry 🤦🏻♂️ I have upset all the big lard arse men on CL as well as the vertically challenged women. Plus apologies to all the bald Men on CL that have had no need of a comb for decades.
I will report myself to the "cancelling committee" and expect to end up in room 101.😱
I hope mother and baby of Doch are doing well and if men had to carry a baby for 9 months Internally there wouldn't be babies; we couldn't take the pain and discomfort.

He should be a guaranteed starter though. I like Anderson more than most people seem to, but Docherty’s performance levels are just a lot more consistent
